RELEASE BLITZ ~ From the Wreckage by Melissa Collins

Blurb:

First, he saved me.
I lived because he was a hero.
And then he was gone.
Uprooted by the fire that destroyed our home, my family moved away and I never saw David Andrews again.
Then, he found me.
Eighteen years later, he rescued me again – in much simpler terms, of course. By loving me, by giving me the fairy tale I’d always hoped for, he provided me with the perfect life.
Now, he needs to be saved.
It’s my turn to be strong, to be brave, to be valiant.
When flames threaten to turn us to ashes, it’s up to me to pull us From the Wreckage.

Review:

Meet David Andrews, aged 10, & Grace (Gracie) McCann, aged 6, friends, neighbors and kindred spirits. One unfortunate night friend turns into “Superhero” when David rescues first Grace then her precious stuffed animal “Puppy” from the devastating fire that destroys the McCann’s residence and forces them to move away and start over.

For David this fateful night and the events of 9/11 became life altering moments as he discovers his calling in life is to become the “rescuer” and he joins the Fire Academy after college.  Gracie also forged her path in life as a teacher. The thought of each other has crossed each other’s minds from time to time.

Fast forward eighteen years a chance meeting, at a local firefighter hang-out, brings David, face to face with Grace and once again to her rescue.  Although this incident is due to the “bad boyfriend” kind he once again becomes her hero. Seemingly familiar to each other, the chance meeting falls to the wayside until the pieces finally fall into place and they realize who each other are. Starting out as friends this couple soon finds out the kindred spirits they once were turns into the soulmates they are destined to be.

Only destiny can be very cruel. While attending a 9/11 event tragedy strikes and David, once the rescuer, is in need rescuing. Gracie becomes HIS saving grace.

I LOVE this read by Melissa. It is one of my favs of 2015 I have followed Melissa from the beginning of her Love Series. (I am forever a #TeamReid girl but David Andrews is surely tied with my other BBFs!!). This book runs the gamut of every emotion. The emotion emitted by a very talented writer who with this book pays tribute to her uncle Lt. David Halderman Squad 18 FDNY, who was lost in the events of 9/11. Believe me when I say he would have been proud!!

5 out of 5 stars!!

“Sometimes, life is just too damn perfect.  And sometimes, we’re lucky enough to get a taste of that perfection”

“these people, this city, it’s more than just a job. It’s been in my blood since the night I saved you. And being a part of something bigger than myself, it’s all I know. So it was natural for me to show you the most important part of who I am.” (David, first “date”)

“Some things are just meant to work out how they work out,” Grace chimes in.”

“We are each other’s forever.”

“What I can promise you, is that however many days I have left, I’ll spend them loving you.”
“Resting her head against my heart, she tells me she loves me back.  But I don’t need to hear the words. Her heart will always be in my heart. I’ll carry there forever.”

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Melissa Collins has always been a book worm. Studying Literature in college ensured that her nose was always stuck in a book. She followed her passion for reading to the most logical career choice: English teacher. Her hope was to share her passion for reading and the escapism of books to her students. Having spent more than a decade in front of a classroom, she can easily say that it’s been a dream.

Her passion for writing didn’t start until more recently. When she was home on maternity leave in early 2012, she read her first romance novel and her head filled with the passion, angst and laughter of the characters who she read about it. It wasn’t long before characters of her own took shape in her mind. Their lives took over Melissa’s brain and The Love Series was born.
