REVIEW by Jeanine:

Jennifer Foor has quickly become a favorite of mine. I love how she writes and makes me fall in love with each character in her books. When Moth returned home to try and solve his brothers death, he ran into "Windy" and from the moment he saw her he knew that she would eventually be his. There were many reasons they could not be together. One being their careers and another being they both have targets on their backs. Moth pretended to be an outsider to try and get all of Windy's secrets from her and figure out what she was running from. Being a DEA agent that wasn't too hard. What he didn't realize, is that she was playing right along the whole time.

There were a lot of surprises in the story that I was not expecting which I love in a book. The ending of the book was AMAZING. I don't want to give much away, it was an amazing story and I highly recommend!!!

EXCERPT:

Right now I don’t give a shit who this chick is. I’m not treating her like a criminal, a victim, or a possible lead. Right now she’s just a beautiful woman I’m dying to fuck. With each stroke of her tongue I’m being hypnotized. She’s wrapping me around her little finger, and if I’m not careful I might get lost in this. It’s too good. She’s too perfect. Her kisses match mine like we’re old lovers. Her hands caress my arms as if she’s done this a thousand times. The more I try to back away the harder it becomes to even consider it. I’m a fiend. She’s my drug. I want to be addicted, because a single kiss has never felt this good.

One kiss. That’s all it takes for this chick to bring me to my knees. As much as I know I need to run out of there and clear my head, I remain. I don’t care about the backlash I’ll get from the guys. I don’t care about the danger, or her real identity. I’m living a lie because I know it’s the only way I can be close to her. My head is in my ass, and as long as it stays there I can continue carrying on this charade.

Midnight Revenge (A Killer Instincts Novel, Book 7) by Elle Kennedy

Synopsis:

Out of all the stone-cold mercenaries in Jim Morgan's black ops organization, Derek "D" Pratt is the most intimidating. He is tight-lipped and covered in tattoos, and even the other guys on his team are afraid to ask him about his past. D's been off the grid for years, but after his teammate Sullivan is mistakenly captured in his place, D is forced to come out of hiding and face his demons.

When D lands in Mexico, he's ready to risk everything to save his friend. To complicate matters, Sofia Amaro, a feisty doctor whom D had a one-night stand with months ago, has tracked him down. And in an instant she's unintentionally caught up in his life-threatening rescue mission.

Now D must extract not one but two people from the most violent world he's ever encountered. And one of them is carrying his child...

REVIEW by Heather Mc:

Midnight Revenge is the 7th book in Elle Kennedy’s “A Killer Instincts Novel”, I have read the entire series but you can read as a stand-alone and have no issues with keeping up with the book or characters.

The entire series is gritty and action packed with hot romances intertwined.  I have always loved the women, they are strong and feisty and they add to the story.  What I love about this series is each book interacts with the team and you can move on and see small snippets into their lives as the months/years go on to the next book and so on.  This book while I love that part of the series I felt TOO much was focused on other members, mainly Sully and Liam, so while that is something I have enjoyed throughout this series I felt it really took away from this one.  It was too just too much side action.

We finally get the story of the troubled soul, Derek “D” Pratt.  I have read the entire series and I am a sucker for a lost/troubled soul.  What I never anticipated was just out troubled and lost D was, his story is horrific.  He has lived his life based off of it and he is the brooding, quiet to himself kind of man.

One night he shows interest in Sofia, who has spent a lot of time fixing up the guys when they are injured in their missions.  Sofia gives into her wants and knows they will have one night, what she doesn’t expect is that she would become pregnant and have to contact D again.  She travels to them and is in the middle of one of the most dangerous missions D has ever been on and now he must keep her safe.

I can honestly say I am an insta-love person, I love a story where they grow and build from their instant connection.  I do love angst and if done right you can have both.  In Midnight Revenge it did not work as well.  I think Derek’s transformation was so sudden it was unbelievable.  I get life altering circumstances can change a person’s outlook on life and how they lead it but it doesn’t happen completely overnight.  I did love D and Sofia when they got it together, it think it was great in the end and that is what kept the book alive for me.  What was wrong for me is how they got there, the connection wasn’t what I have come to expect from an Elle Kennedy book.

This is a hard one because I Love this series, but again I feel this was one I was waiting and waiting for, I am hoping I am not being too hard because it fell short of what I anticipated.  But I have to say this is a 3.5 star read for me.

Ain’t She Sweet (Green Mountain #6) by Marie Force

The latest Green Mountain Romance from the The New York Times bestselling author of It’s Only Love.

Charlotte “Charley” Abbott has gone out with every guy under thirty-five in Butler, Vermont—except for one. Tyler Westcott’s attempts to date her may be determined, and frequent, but Charley can’t stand how he acts like he knows her better than she knows herself. So when Tyler turns up at the running club Charley joined to train for a marathon, she’s almost ready to quit before she even gets started.

Tyler knows that behind Charley’s prickly personality and dismissive attitude is a sweet woman he wants in his life. And when Charley suffers an injury while training, Tyler is ready to prove that the perfect man for her has been right there all along...

Review by: CA Borgford

Ain’t She Sweet is Charley and Tyler’s story and it was a treat to read. Marie Force does romance right. Adding to the experience and setting the tone leading into each chapter with meaningful and well-chosen quotes. Heading back to Green Mountain is a sure bet for an enjoyable, easy, romantic read.

Charley is stubborn, at times abrasive, and a complete catch if someone could convince her to take the risk on a relationship. She holds her cards tight to her chest and takes the theory of it’s not you, it’s me to new highs. Fortunately for Charlotte, Tyler is persistent, capable, and convinced they are meant to be. I really liked Tyler. I found he was equal parts complex and simple. I’ll admit at first I thought he was too good to be true. It was his commitment and honesty that won me over. I always felt I knew where he stood on things and that helped convince me that he had what it took to win Charlotte’s heart.

The Abbott’s are tight-knit bunch with a lot going on. I cherish the interactions and updates with the family. Max’s story continues to pull at my heart, and at times I felt like he and Caden stole my attention. Anticipation is building and I cannot wait for his story. Meanwhile, I’m gearing up for Grayson and Emma. Elmer and Linc are on a roll, as is Marie. Ain’t She Sweet is genuine and romantic.

Sidebarred by Emma Chase

Join Jake & Chelsea, Stanton & Sofia, Brent & Kennedy as they navigate the hilarious and heartwarming hurdles of love, life and the law in this final addition to the Legal Briefs Series.
There was a time when Jake Becker had it all together. He was controlled, driven, ruthless—in and out of the courtroom.
Then, six irresistible orphans and their heartbreakingly beautiful aunt crashed into his perfectly ordered life. They changed everything. They changed him. Now he’s a husband, an upstanding member of society, a father figure—a family man.
And he’s pretty damn good at it.
Sure, he has to referee sibling smackdowns, re-learn algebra, ensure his clients stay of jail, and keep his wife happy—but it finally feels like he’s got it together again....
So, of course something has to screw it all up. It’s huge. Life-changing. Kind of terrifying.
And it will be the most amazing, perfect thing he’ll ever do.

Review by: CA Borgford

This little beauty was EVERYTHING I hoped for and more.

This did not feel like a novella to me. Chase ~ with the help of the always adorable, alpha sweet Jake ~ swept me off my feet on page one. Reading Sidebarred felt like hanging with my best friends. I’ve adored the series. Jake, Chelsea and the kids were a highlight for me, so reading more, as their futures progress, was a delicious treat.

Emma Chase is a master at creating dynamic, honest relationships. Her attention to the tiniest of details, special moments between siblings, parents, and friends demand your attention and elicit a waterfall of emotions.

These simple everyday lines (below) and the scenes they represent are a testament to this author’s immense talent. They will forever remind me of these characters. I read them and immediately find myself back to those moments ~ feeling, seeing, enjoying.

I’m gonna be a boss.
Someone’s in trouble.
Even when you’re being an asshole.
Thank you, Jake. For everything.
The old-fashioned way.
You would hold all the kids at once, because your arms are big enough to do that.

The Legal Briefs Series is sexy, heartfelt, and insanely brilliant. Sidebarred is the perfect ending to an incredible series ~ straight up GOLD.
