The beginning of my sophomore year in college was off to a rough start.

I got home later that night and realized that the foreign student we were expecting to rent a room in my parents’ house was allergic to our cat.

The guy knew how to push every one of my buttons.
Sometimes I’d email him to express my aggravation and disdain.
He’d actually rewrite my own words and send them back to me.
That was the type of infuriating person Caleb was.
So frustrating.
And…
Sometimes incredibly funny and endearingly sweet.
And hot.

He eventually grew on me, and Caleb soon became one of my best friends that year.
Too bad he was headed back to England soon, so nothing could happen between us—for so many reasons.
I definitely couldn't fall in love with him, especially since all we had was just one year.

REVIEW:
A sexy Brit involved? Heck yes! Sign me up. 

This was a quick and easy read for me. Definitely a slow burn, but it is well worth the read. Two college kids, throw in a British exchange student, first meeting in a smelly men’s bathroom. Caleb comes to America as a college exchange student who ends up staying at Teagan’s home for the semester. With their previous embarrassing encounter, Teagan tries to avoid Caleb at all costs. But of course Caleb won’t let that happen. He was amused by how easily it was to push all her buttons. 

Caleb and Teagan start a friendship that will slowly evolve into something more than what they could have imagined. Teagan is such a smart person when Caleb gets wind of that, he asks her for help studying. During their studies they get to know one another. Caleb lets Teagan realize that she takes advantage of little things in life, such as the love she gets from her family. Teagan lacks a relationship with her family and Caleb doesn’t understand why she seems to distance herself from them. He does sympathize with her reasoning. When his own secrets are revealed, it helps us understand why he sometimes shuts down. That was a twist I did not see coming. Caleb comes to America to escape some of his issues. And boy does he have some issues. Caleb and Teagan are both damaged but yet helping one another get through it all. My heart does break for the both of them. They’re just two lost kids trying to find their way. I absolutely loved the friendship that started to build between them. And the relationship that Caleb had with Teagan’s family. They treated Caleb like he was a part of them. I loved how they were able to encourage each other to put down some of the walls that were put up.

I didn’t like the fact that Caleb was seeing someone who wasn’t Teagan. But I get why it had to happen that way. If they jumped into it head on, I don’t think they would have turned out as strong that they did. They both had such a special connection. You could feel it when the two of them are together. Crossing that line was something they both could not take lightly. Teagan’s family was letting Caleb stay in their home and he was leaving at the end of the semester. But their connection was too strong, they just could not stay away. The lines needed to be crossed. And holy hell were they crossed! Explosion I tell you! 

Both Caleb and Teagan have both gone through a lot in their lives. In order to fully move on, they must get through their past issues. They must go through this without one another. Thankfully, they have their family not hep them get through it. As the saying goes, absence makes the heart grow fonder. In this case, they needed to test that theory. Will it work? Can they work out their own issues on their own before starting something together? Can what they feel for one another be strong enough to endure anything? It’s one you will have to find out on your own. Find out about Caleb and Teagan. Believe me, you won’t believe the twists and turns that come your way. I thought I was able to pinpoint what would happen next, that was definitely not the case here. Don’t delay, pick up the book today.

WOW. Where do I even begin? L.J. Shen sure does know how to take you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions. I NEVER saw where this book was going. Lenora and Vaughn were young when they first met. Lenora was great at keeping secrets, but Vaughn made sure he did everything in his power to make sure he did.  Vaughn is conniving just like his father and will stop at nothing to get what he wants. Whether it be an internship, or ...... Lenora.

If I could give 10 stars, ANGRY GOD would receive them. This book rocked me to my core. I absolutely adored Vaughn.

“How good are you at keeping secrets, Lenora Astalis?” His voice wrapped around my neck like a noose. I wanted to cough. I needed to cough. He terrified me.
