REVIEW TOUR~ SOMETHING UNEXPECTED by Vi Keeland
Just wow… where do I begin with this one.. I had to put a pause on reading because life just got way too crazy, but Vi Keeland has always been a go to author for me. Of course, I pick up Something Unexpected and got sucked right into the world of Nora and Beck. Something Unexpected was a book full of emotions. When I say you get all the feels, you get ALL the feels. I found myself literally laughing and ugly crying all at the same time. I could not put this book down, I stayed up wayyy past by bed time until there were no more chapters left.
I absolutely loved the dynamic duo, Nora and Louise. Their age difference meant nothing to them and they have such a strong connection. It’s like they were meant to cross paths and do this adventure together. We go on an epic adventure with Nora and Louise as they cross things off their bucket list. No matter how crazy, the duo is ready to conquer. Vi did an amazing job that I felt like I was on this amazing journey right alongside them. That Louise is a mischievous one, who would have thought. I would love to be as carefree as her when I get to that stage in my life. I felt like Nora was the responsible one between the two of them.
Beck is Louise’s grandson and also an uptight worrywart. Complete opposite of his grandmother, he likes things to be in order and this trip of hers is causing him a big headache. He would love for her to get treatment and be around forever, but she’s got her own plans. She just wants to live and do things she’s always wanted to do whether he lets her or not. I found it funny how he kept trying to stop her as if she was a child. I loved the relationship that the two have. He truly does love her and just wants what is best for her.
Beck and Nora’s have that instant connection, you can tell from that first meeting. I was rooting for them from the get go. Beck means well and he is such a great guy. They just got off on the wrong foot. Lines get blurred when he finds out that Nora is really his grandmother’s travel companion. Nora keeps her distance, she tries her hardest, but that attraction is undeniable and Beck is very persistent. She has her reasons for keeping her distance. Can I just say, hot damn?!! I knew it was going to be explosive!
The secondary characters were just as amazing as the main characters. They were all a hoot to have around! I can’t stop laughing at all their antics.
There were definitely a lot of twists and turns in this book. It definitely pulled on my heartstrings more than once. I think I felt more in tuned with this book because I had just gone through a similar situation with a family member just a few days before reading this book so it was a bit raw for me still. So I felt it all over again while reading this book. I felt even more connected to the characters after that. It made me feel more a part of them in a way because we kind of went through it together. In a way, this book has helped me cope. It has helped me get through my feelings. One thing I got out of while reading this, don’t wait to do things, try to do them now while you can.
Don’t sleep on this book. Go get your copy now.
