**Dirty English is a modern love story inspired by Pride and
Prejudice**
A scarred fighter.
A girl with rules.
One night of unbridled passion.
There are three things you need to know about Elizabeth
Bennett: she’s smart as a whip, always in control, and lives by a set of
carefully crafted rules. She’s learned the hard way that people you love the
most always hurt you in the end.
But then she meets Declan Blay, the new neighbor at her
apartment complex.
A tattooed British street fighter, he’s the campus bad boy
she’s supposed to avoid, but when he
saves her from a frat party gone bad, all her rules about sex and love fly out
the window.
She gives him one night of unbridled passion, but he longs
for more.
With only a cardboard-thin wall separating their bedrooms,
he dreams of possessing the vulnerable girl next door forever.
One night. Two damaged hearts. The passion of a lifetime.
“Love is never perfect, in fact it’s the exact opposite of perfect, but that’s okay, because it give you room to grow and explore.”
This book will captivate you from the very first page till the very end. You won’t want to put it down. It’s full of angst and jam-packed with so many emotions you’ll feel like you’re on a rollercoaster. You will fall in love with Elizabeth and be swooning for Declan. In the end, you’re going to want to read again.
“Nothing matters without you.”
With both an absentee father and mother,
Elizabeth Bennett did not grow up with the best childhood but she made the best
with what she had. She was the shy kid in her class, did not have very many
friends, loves books, art and excelled in school. Elizabeth pours her heart
into anything and everything that she is passionate about. So when the popular
boy in her class shows interest in her and wants to take her to prom, she drops
her walls and goes all in. I mean no one has ever been interested in her before
and here Colby wants to be with her. The day starts off to be the best night of
her life. When she wakes the next morning her world has
changed forever. The old Elizabeth has gone and a new one has surfaced. No one
will ever believe her…. Elizabeth is no one….
“Everything I’d believed about myself..about who I was..about love..unraveled, turning into something dark. Dirty.”
Declan Blay grew up with his twin brother Dax and their mom
until she died of cancer. At that point, they were shipped to move in with
their dad and his new family where Declan didn’t really feel a part of. Thought
Declan had no choice since he was young and had nowhere else to go. When he
sets his mind to something he is determined to go after it. Declan loves
fighting, owns his own gym and hopes to fight in the UFC one day. However he is
not your typical fighter. He is actually very well educated, he doesn’t drink
like a lot like every other guy out there and he’s had his fair share of ladies
but none of them too serious for forever. He and his father have always butted
heads on what his future would be. With Declan wanting what his heart desires
and his father wanting him to become a lawyer. But no matter what, Declan has
always followed through and has excelled in school, while pursuing his love for
the gym on the side.
“The moment that dragonfly landed on you, I knew you were going to rock my world.”
Elizabeth’s life has changed drastically through the years.
Since not having anyone to really depend on, she has become so independent,
very strong and she’s very closed off. The wall is built pretty tight. She
spends a lot of her time focusing on school, working, and reading. Elizabeth
needs to be in control of her life and everything around her. Her passion for
art is locked up tight and her best friend is trying to get her back into it,
but she doesn’t budge. Who knows where Elizabeth would be without the support
of her friend? If she does spend time
with a man, it’s for just one night and she won’t talk to him ever again. It
goes by her rules or nothing at all.
“There’s a magnet in my chest that’s drawn to yours.”“He was everything I shouldn’t want but did.”
When Elizabeth goes to her first frat party and she spots
Declan she knows instantly that she needs to stay away from him. It’s like she
is a moth drawn to a flame. He is everything that she needs to avoid. But when
Declan saves her from her worst fear from happening, she can’t help how her
body reacts to him or how he reacts back to her. There’s no denying the
chemistry between the two of them. They try so hard to fight it. And it works
for a while…Till they realize that avoiding one another is inevitable.
“I can’t put words into it, but I feel safe with you and like nothing bad will happen to me again.”
They learn that they are neighbors and that they also share a
class in school where they will learn about the world of Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth,
a subject in which they are both quite familiar with. They try to keep their
distance from each other. They push each other’s buttons. He wants her just as
bad as she does but no one wants to budge. But when he keeps coming to her
rescue and does little thoughtful things for her, it makes her begin to wonder
what it is about him. They get to know one another better. About their pasts,
their family, their experiences, their passions, goals and their futures. But
some things are still kept behind hidden walls, not ready to come out. When the
sexual tension boils down to just one night, Elizabeth’s rules go flying out
the window. Declan is different than anyone one she has ever been with before.
One night of heated passion is not enough for either of them. They always want
more.
When Elizabeth’s fears come rearing back, she is doubting her
relationship with Declan. Fighting has always been a no go for her, but yet
it’s Declan’s dream. Declan and Elizabeth’s world and dreams and completely
different from each other, she feels that they have no chance to be together.
To top it off Declan’s past is keeps making an appearance, putting the doubts
at full force. But when Elizabeth’s ultimate blast from the past comes back to
haunt her, it puts her life into tailspin.
“With us it was about two broken people who looked deep into the eyes of the other person and just meshed. “
Will Elizabeth and Declan be able to survive everything being
thrown their way? Will Declan be able to put all Elizabeth’s doubts away? Can
Declan and Elizabeth get through her issue of him fighting? What will happen
with Declan’s future? Since he wants one thing and his dad wants another? Will
Elizabeth be able to overcome the situation from her past? Will Declan be able
to help her through it? Will they make it through together?
“In that moment, life-we-were perfect. I’d never been like that with a girl before. Spontaneous and fun. Real.”
I absolutely loved this book!! Ilsa nailed it for sure! She
captured all the feels put into one. I fell in love with Elizabeth and Declan,
I mean how could you not? Declan, wow! Talk about hot! A gym fighter, smart and
hot?! I’ll take him please. I felt for both of their stories and the situations
that they went through growing up. They are both strong willed and determined
individuals and did not let their past dictate their future. They pushed
through it and rose from it. They are two broken souls who found peace in each
other. While reading, you definitely can feel the emotions that the characters
are feelings, it’s poured our right into the pages. Ilsa does a fantastic job
putting us right there with them. Everyone needs a BFF that Elizabeth had. She
has always stood by her side, never leaving it even when she was down. The
secondary characters were awesome. It’s like they were one big family. I
wouldn’t mind a book on Dax. That would be a fun one to read.

Excerpt of DIRTY ENGLISH
“Come to my apartment and spend the night with
me.” I touched his face, my fingers stroking the softness of his sensuous lips.
“Just one night and we can make this shitty world disappear.”
He exhaled. “A one-night stand?”
“Yeah.”
He cupped my chin. “Someone hurt
you, didn’t they?”
My lips tightened. No one at Whitman
knew about Colby except for Shelley and Blake, and I sure as hell wasn’t
telling him. He’d judge me like everyone else had in Petal, North Carolina.
“That’s none of your business.”
“I see.” His eyes searched mine
until I felt like a bug under a microscope. “What if I wanted more than just
one night?”
“Then your hands can let go of my
hips now.”
He removed his hands slowly, the
tips of his fingers grazing mine. “This may surprise you, but I don’t sleep
with every girl I kiss.”
I’d been rejected. Again. “Blake said you got around, that
you used—”
“And you believed him?” His voice
was incredulous. “Dude is in love with you and he saw exactly how we looked at
each other tonight—”
“Looked
at each other? What are you talking about? You refused to dance with me and
then you ran off with your girlfriend. Not to mention I just kissed you and you
didn’t even care.” I threw my hands up.
“I wanted to fuck you the minute you
walked in that party,” he snapped.
“Then why don’t you,” I bit out,
tossing back my shoulders.
“You think you want me?” he said
tightly. “You can’t handle me, Elizabeth. I can see it in your eyes. You’re
scared of something, maybe not me, but something.”
My eyes went to his black eye.
He let out a harsh laugh. “Ah,
that’s what you’re afraid of. You want the real truth? You told me tonight you
didn’t like violence, but I’m an arsehole who uses his fists. That’s who I am.”
“What do you mean?”
His gaze was intense, dark and low,
his face struggling as he fought to find the right words. “I’m in a fight club
for money. I show up at warehouses and fight other blokes. Sometimes I beat
them so bad they need medical attention. A few times, I’ve been beat to unconsciousness. I’m everything you need to stay
away from.”
I inhaled, anger and lust and
excitement all riding me. Anger that he was pushing me away, lust for the alpha
male in him, and God help me, the fighting thing repelled me and excited me at
the same time. “I don’t want to stay away from you. I want you to fuck me and
stop making excuses for why you can’t.”
My words seemed to snap his taut
restraint.
He pulled me back in his arms, his
lips fusing with mine unerringly. His tongue plundered me in a sensual way my
body had craved for years. I wrapped my arms around his neck, my anger morphing
into all-out desire as he turned us and pressed me against the wall.
Yes, yes, this is what I craved.
A passion to remind me that I was real, not just some sad excuse of a girl
who chose to exist on scraps of love.
Before I knew it, he’d shoved my
robe off, his hands sculpting my shoulders, massaging them as he ravaged my
mouth. I reveled in the warmth of his hand on my neck as his mouth skated down,
kissing the hollows of my throat, sucking on my collarbone.
“Like this?” he asked, his voice
dark and gravelly. “You want me to take you up against this wall?”
“Yes,” I moaned. Gone. Past caring
as long as he kept his hands on me.
Out of control, my brain whispered, but I beat back the dark warnings as
his warm hand found my breast and squeezed, his fingers rolling my nipple
between his thumb and forefinger.
I gasped in pleasure and arched my
back to get closer to his body, ignoring the fear that pricked at the surface.
The rules girl in my head stamped
her foot and yelled at me. I ignored her.
But even if I wanted to stop right
now, I couldn’t. My tongue tangled wildly with his, my hands pulled at his
hair, spurring him on, his hand palming my breast and then tugging. Sharp
sensations of need went straight to my core.
“Is this what you want? Something
quick where we just take what we want and forget each other the next day?”
No. Not that. Not like the way he
said it, like it was something dirty.
“Yes, like that,” I whispered
against his shoulder, my mouth on his skin, tasting him as my teeth bit down.
