Falling Under (Ink & Chrome Book 2) by Lauren Dane

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Lauren Dane delivers the second book in her dark, gritty and romantic Ink & Chrome series

Duke Bradshaw, co-owner of the custom motorcycle shop Twisted Steel, is great with his hands and not afraid to get dirty . . . especially in his fantasies about his redheaded neighbor Carmella Rossi.

Carmella has been secretly lusting after her hot, tattooed neighbor for the last three years. His gravelly voice combined with the throaty purr of his custom bike never fails to send thrills down her spine. When Duke asks her to join him at the shop, she can't say no. Soon their days together spill over into nights that bring her pleasure beyond anything she imagined. But Carmella grew up with bikers, and knows how bad a bad boy can be. Can she put herself at risk for someone who has heart-breaker written all over him?

REVIEW:

In Falling Under we get Duke Bradshaw and Carmella Rossi's story. We met both of them in Opening Up but you do not have to read that first to read this, although I highly recommend it because it was awesome.

What happens when you are so broken you shut yourself to love and won't let anyone in, won't let anyone get close to you?  What happens when your parents are so toxic to your well being yet you feel this desperate need to take care of them?  What happens when you take care of your mother to the point of micro managing her life so hers doesn't spiral out of control and she still belittles you and makes you feel unloved?  What happens after a lifetime of disappointment you meet this man who is everything you feel you should stay away from but then as time passes you realize he just may be everything you want in life? You keep him at arms length and you fall anyway.

What happens when your the guy everyone comes to for advice, for help, for friendship and the one person you want doesn't need you nor will she let you in? Some would give up, some would get angry and some would hurt them back. But not Duke Bradshaw, he was patient, he didn't give up, he gave his time, his kindness, his friends and even a job. Yes he used a job offer to get close to Carmella and she out did herself.  His situated himself in her life and won her over.

How does one keep someone who is so afraid to share herself? How can he prove himself, prove he isn't the other people in her life that have let her down? Some jobs are very hard, some are worth the effort and sometimes you just have to sit back and see what the other is willing to do to fight for an us.

I loved Duke and his unwavering dedication to his work, friends, family and Carmella. I liked that Carmella was a fun, strong woman. I liked watching her evolve through the book and while they had some good sexy times I just felt there was a little something missing. I can't put a finger on it, maybe missing an epilogue putting things together in the future. So with that being said I give Falling Under 4 stars.
