Playing for Keeps by R.L. Mathewson

Jason Bradford is Haley's neighbor from HELL, but if the truth is to be told, he really is a fun, outgoing, caring and totally misunderstood guy. Jason is sort of an idiot, the guy that makes everyone laugh at the parties, and the guy that every girl wants as her best friend. But in all seriousness, he is a big teddy bear.
His shy little neighbor, Haley is afraid of own shadow and VERY intimidated by EVERYONE, especially her neighbor, Jason.  Her neighbor from hell, also is a co-worker and they share adjourning rooms at a private high school where they are both history teachers.

Hayley has avoided her neighbor for 5 years, and after an incident occurs with Hayley's beloved garden, Haley has had enough and finally reached her breaking point with her neighbor.  From this point on, Hayley decides to change her life and make some changes.  Surprisingly, a GREAT friendship develops over the LOVE of baseball and their favorite team, the New York Yankees. Jason is exactly what Hayley needed in her life.  To watch their friendship blossom into love, touched you on so many levels.
I haven't read a book this funny, where I was actually laughing out loud while reading it.  The bantering between the two is hysterical. Jason's best friends, Mitch and Brad were well developed characters and added a lot of laughs to the story. You can actually picture yourself in the scenes, and can relate to storyline.  I absolutely LOVED Jason and his LOVE for FOOD.  His love for food and the "thieving bastards" trying to steal his precious Hayley's food is hilarious. The Bradford food obsession kept you laughing throughout the entire book.

This was a great read from the 1st page till the last.  Jason's obsession with food had me laughing out loud! I absolutely loved the relationship between the two of them.
