Synopsis: Callie Brandon wasn't looking for love; it always ended up at the feet of someone else. But when a sexy architect sets his determined, baby blue eyes on her, she starts to believe maybe life has designed her very own "happily ever after".
This is this Elizabeth’s first book and she has outdone herself. I can only expect the best for her second book. The way the book was written (first person), made me feel as if I was a part of the story. Elizabeth hooks you in from the very first chapter. The story line kept me so engaged, I was not able to put the book down. I was filled with lots of emotions while reading this book: sadness, anger, annoyance, happy; humor and at the end leaving me satisfied.
I instantly fell for Justin. Justin is a
confident, handsome, very sweet man who is very successful and owns his own
firm. While Callie sees herself as just someone very plain and can only dream of
owning her own firm someday, just like her father.
Justin’s dad tries to play matchmaker placing
them to first meet at the Annual Architect’s Conference. Neither was looking
for a relationship, but fate had its own plans. There was an instant attraction
between the two of them, leaving Callie confused since she’s never felt that
before. Both not wanting for the conference to end, they must go their separate
ways. With their busy schedules and a distance in cities, they resort to
getting to know each other over the phone, text messages, and a random date or
two. He seems to bring out a side of her that she’s not all too familiar with.
He makes her feel confident and seeing herself in a different light. Her love
life seems to be taking off well, while her work life seems to take a turn and
go a completely different direction.
In addition, Callie’s parents and neighbor bring
a lot of humor; you have the self-centered, spoiled, so called best friend who
feels that everything revolves around her; and then you have her secretary and her partner who are a completely different
story.
“I think I loved you before I met you.” ~ Justin
Love at first sight does not happens in just books, it happens in real life as well. Justin actually says he
fell in love with her before he met her; just from the things his father mentioned
about her. There was a lot of miscommunication/assumption done by the
characters; which in turn made me very upset. The roller coaster of events
definitely caused a lot of forehead slapping moments. But as well all know, that's real
life. We sometimes get thrown on that roller coaster, get sucked into a lot miscommunication, but all we can do is ride it out till we get to the end. The end result being the way you handle these situations.
If you haven't yet, buy and read this book! Job well done Elizabeth, can't wait till the second book! Look for her second book, Life by Design releasing March 15th~~Jenn
