Fire is the second in the Duet of Ice and Fire, Elite Forces Book 2 by Hilary Storm and Kathy Coopmans
This is the continuation of Ice and boy did it deliver. This review will have spoilers from Ice, book 1 of the Elite Forces Series. If you have not read it please continue with caution. What do you do when the love of your life is captured by the enemy, how do you feel when you can’t do anything but follow the orders of your superiors. How do you go on knowing that he is possibly being tortured like nothing you could ever imagine. Or will he have a worse fate and not survive until you got back to him. Would you fight your team, would you disobey orders would you go back to him alone or would you stop and think and plan and do whatever you needed to do to get him back. Jade “Ice” Elliott has spent her life proving to everyone that she is a bad ass sniper, that she can compete with the best of men and she has. She has never had a weakness until a few weeks ago when Kaleb “Fire” Maverick walked into her world and turned it upside down. She tried to fight the attraction but she has never felt what she has since meeting Kaleb. He has come to be her everything and just when she was accepting this he is brutally taken away from her in a top secret mission for her country. She knows everything she should be doing as a soldier. She knows the right thing to do for her job and her country but she damn sure is fighting with her heart and many other men on Kaleb’s team. They all love Kaleb but they know the mission must be complete before they can go back for him. Jade refuses and puts her foot down. She will not leave him, she will fight for him and their love and she does. It is funny to me when you met Jade in the beginning of Ice you would never believe it was the same person coming at the end of Fire. She is so strong but not dumb, she loves wholeheartedly and not just Kaleb, everyone who means anything to her means the world to her. She is the perfect heroine in my opinion. She is a woman and she loves it, but she is strong and she had fought to get where she is, she is not giving anything up, she will fight for every single thing she wants in life, even if it means she has to walk away for them to know she means what she says. Whether that be in love, life, family or work. She fights for what she believes in. Kaleb, wow, he is hot, he is just the perfect match for Jade and he knows it without even meeting her in person. He is a family man and Holy Hell does he have some really great and really awful family members. He loves his mom and sister and he has no problem showing them that love, he has no problem showing Jade his love but he is a man’s man, he wants to protect to a fault, he needs to be in charge and he needs Jade by his side. Can they come out on top with Kaleb’s need to protect Jade, a woman who has moved through the ranks and has proven time and again she can stand with any man in the country and fight for it. Or will it be too much on Jade, take too much of her away from her. Can she deal with it. Can she be the woman Kaleb needs. Can she sit and watch him put himself in danger day in and day out and watch it blindly. Well you will have to see for yourself. But for me both books are 5 stars alone but together they are top 5 reads for me ever. It is romance, action, suspense, friendships, betrayal and most of all loyalty and love. There is a perfect blend of everything. I couldn’t put either book down and I could NOT wait for Fire to release, it was only a 3 week wait and I was dying. This is definitely a must read of 2016. I cannot wait for the rest of the series to release, I will be reading each. Getting Harris’s story next is so exciting and I cannot wait.

Love, a word never on my radar, has now taken over my existence. My world revolves around this man.
I’m in love with him because of the deep connection I felt the second I saw him and dealing with the torture of this week has only intensified my feelings. My mind went crazy, thinking of everything he went through, as I examined all of the marks on his body. I can tell he was whipped many times. The wounds are starting to heal, but I’m afraid the surface scars will always be there. And I don’t even want to think about the internal scars something like this would bring.
I don’t care what he looks like or how much this will torment him. He takes me and I take him just the way he is. He’s been point blank about wanting me from the first day we met, and now it’s time I match his determination. His blastoff introduction to have me on my knees that first day could’ve so easily gone a different way. I’m just glad I felt the connection the second I laid my eyes on him.
