Hunger (A Stepbrother Romance Novel) by Arabella Abbing

BLURB:

The day I went with my soon-to-be stepmother to pick up her son from rehab was the day my entire life changed. Luke wasn’t an alcoholic. He wasn’t a junkie.

He was a former sex addict who was coming to stay with us for a few months while he got back on his feet.

He looked like a rock star. Tattoos, piercings, ripped muscles, and an 'I-don't-give-a-crap' sense of style. He was gorgeous.

He might have broken his addiction in rehab, but the intensity of his gaze told me otherwise. He looked at me like he was on death row and I was his personal choice of a last meal.

I wanted him badly. Badly enough to set up a devious plan to reawaken his hunger.

The plan worked, but not without consequences.

REVIEW:

In Hunger we meet Jenna and Luke, you see their parents are about to marry and they've not yet met each other.  Luke has been in a rehab facility voluntarily due to an addiction. He saw it and recognized it and wanted to be a better person. What he never expected was to come out face to face with a woman who shook him to the very core the minute he laid eyes on her.

Jenna is an 18 year old virgin who just graduated high school and plans to leave home and attend an Ivy League University in the fall.  When she meets her soon to be step brother while picking him up from rehab with her father and Clara she feels his intense gaze and is startled when she touches him and had a feeling she's never had before.

Over the next few days she learns he was in rehab for a sex addiction which floors her.  She never thought that but she knew he looked way too good when they picked him up for it to have been drugs or even alcohol.  He was the sexiest man she's laid eyes on.  She also realizes she wants him but does he want her???  She talks to her bff Daniel and they set into a plan of seduction.  She pushes and pushes Luke's limits.  Luke tries to be the better person, he tries to make Jenna stay in the friend zone.  But eventually she follows Daniels plan and it works.

What she doesn't realize is what she is going to get.  Because they aren't just connected on a physical level.  They soon realize they are both fully in this.

What I loved about this book was the flow, I was sucked in from the beginning and this was a perfect quick easy read.  The sex scenes were super hot, their love for each other is apparent and unwavering.  It was them against the world with no second thought on it, they were in this together no matter what.

I loved Daniel her best friend.  I loved Clara, Luke's mother.  Her actions and reactions were acceptable and believable and she was no push over with Bill when he was not as accepting. But he also wasn't a bad person, a little naive and blind but not bad.  That was refreshing in a step brother novel.

I also loved that there wasn't generated angst just to have it.  It was there with the premise of the story but not over done like many step brother novels lead.

What could have been a bit better was the character development.  I felt a little more thought could be there.  I also love a quiet brooding intense man but I felt Luke could have had a little more time speaking.  He talked some but I felt it was a touch to little.

I will tell you I read this book in a few hours.  I loved it and will be reading and re reading without any thought this is a 4.5 star read and highly recommended for a day where you need a feel good sexy book to read.
