REVIEW:

This is the first book that I have read by Samantha Young, but it will definitely not be the last book I read of hers.  I will be bumping  up the On Dublin Street series on my TBR list.

I wasn't sure what to expect when I started this book, but I was BLOWN AWAY.  This is a 5 star read.  I was immediately captivated by the chemistry between Caine and Alexa.

Alexa's paths cross with a man who’s as damaged by her father’s mistakes as much as she is.
Alexa has always thought her father was her hero, her knight in shining armor, until she founds out the truth behind his lies.  The man she once loved, she couldn't stand to be around, she shouldn't even stand the sight of him. Her life was based around one big lie.

Alexa is on site for a photo shoot for her job, when she meets Caine.  Alexa is thrown off her axis by this man.  When she introduces herself to him, she advises him how she knows him. Caine wants nothing to do with Alexa.  In fact, it infuriates him that she would even utter those words to him.  Knowing that her father's actions destroyed Caine's life, she feels a need to explain herself.  To apologize for his actions, even though they had nothing to do with her. Alexa felt guilty.

When Alexa meets Caine, she is immediately drawn to him.  Caine was too, it was obvious but once Alexa dropped that bombshell, he was shook to the core.  No matter how much Caine pushed her away, she pushed harder to get to know him.  Caine was determined to make Alexa hate him.  He belittled her, humiliated her, treated her like shit.  Alexa knew that this was a defense mechanism and she pushed harder.  There were times that I thought she was going to break, but I think it made her stronger.

When things between the two heat up, both agree that their relationship was strictly sex. But in reality, could it just be sex?   When each develop feelings for each other but try their damnedest to hide them, someone will break.  Will it be Caine?  Will it be Alexa?  Can Alexa continue to be treated the way she is?  Will she forgive Caine for what he does to her?  Can Caine allow Alexa to break through the walls that he built to keep people at bay?  Will Caine let Alexa in?  What secrets is Caine keeping?  Will he open up to Alexa?  Will they both accept each other with their pasts?  With their pasts being intertwined, can Caine love Alex despite it?

"I'm not going to stand here and have the same argument with you over and over.  What I will say is that when I walk out that door I'm walking out of here  hating you for throwing me away when the truth is... the truth is you love me.  I know you do, even if you deny it.  And it it were me, Caine, I wouldn't be able to stand the idea of you ever hating me, no matter how far apart we are, and I will hate you if you don't stop lying.  So you either tell me what it is you're hiding or you don't, but you should know I will definitely never forgive you if you don't."

When tragedy strikes, will Caine finally admit his feelings for Alexa?  Will Caine lose Alexa once and for all?  How much can one woman handle, before enough is enough?  Can the two of them live without each other?  Will their pasts finally bring them together?

I read this book in one sitting.  I could not put it down. Caine was a prick at times, but when he opened up and showed up the true man he was, he was amazing.  Beneath that armor, he was great man, one that deserved to be loved.  Deserved to be happy.  Sometimes when out heart tells us one thing, out brain tells us another.  Caine needed his heart and brain to be on the save wavelength.  The question is, how much was Alexa willing to take before she couldn't handle anymore rejection.  A person can only handle so much, before they brake.

This is an intense read. You will want to keep reading to know what happens next.  There are a few twists and turns in the story that I did not see coming and I was quite shocked.  Make sure you one-click HERO.

I received an ARC from the publisher in exchange for an HONEST REVIEW.
