Two stories so deeply intertwined, you’ll think you know how they intersect…but you’ll be wrong….

Zack Martin
The day I met Emily Bennett my whole world changed. Sure, we were just kids, but I was old enough to know my life would never be the same. She was my best friend. My destiny. My fate. I wasn’t wrong…I just didn’t know how twisted fate could be.

Nikki Fallon
After the death of my mother, moving from my dark and dreary trailer park to sunny California, I was focused on one thing – finding a sister I’d only just learned existed. Falling in love with him wasn’t part of the plan. But he filled a void I never knew was possible to fill. He had to be my fate. My destiny. Until the day I finally found out who my sister was…and how twisted fate could be.

Review

“Love needs no words. You had me before you even spoke.”

This isn’t your traditional love story. Zack and Nikki live separate lives, and somehow, someway, their lives will cross. It alternates the POVs from Nikki’s to Zack’s, telling their story. The story starts with Nikki living in Texas and Zack in California, so the entire time I was reading it had me guessing how their lives will intertwine. Fate screwed with them separately, but yet, fate brought them both together.

Nikki hasn’t had a normal childhood. At an early age, she’s had to learn how to take care of herself and her mother. She didn’t have many friends since she mainly focused on her schoolwork her mother. Before the age of 18, her mother had passed, leaving her behind. She was an only child, she didn’t know who her father was, and had no other living relatives. All she had was a best friend, Ashely, and her house was already filled. She was about to be thrown into the system when she found a note left behind from her mother admitting not only did she have a long lost aunt but a sister as well. They were both in California. Her aunt was keeping her sister a secret. She had one goal in mind from that point on. Move to California with her aunt and track down her sister.

Zack knew from the moment he met Emily when she first moved into the house next door when they were little, that she would captivate his heart forever. They were inseparable throughout the years. He was the football quarterback and she was the head cheerleader. How could they not be together? When they were around crowds, it seemed more like a show for Emily, but when they were alone, he found the Emily he grew to love. She loved being center of attention, the popularity, the fame, she was a socialite. He didn’t care for it much. He liked to get to know people and find a common ground between them. They were growing apart, how could they not? They were becoming different people, but he could never see his life without her in it. Everyone though reaches their boiling point and Zack was about to reach his. Emily was pushing him, a lot further than she normally does. And leaves him with words that would haunt him every day until he is able to find peace again.
“You’ll be sorry tomorrow, Zach Martin. And, you know what, by then it may be too late.” ~ Emily
Moving to California, her life is different from what it was in Texas. She has things she never had; a full array of clothes, a comfortable bed, heck she even had breakfast cooked for her in the morning. She has always cared for someone, never been cared for before. But she still hasn’t unpacked anything out of her boxes, she never has. In all her life, she has lived out of boxes, never finding a proper place to call home. Nikki first meets Zack running at the track, but words aren’t exchanged, just glances. They’re both runners so they both try to one up each other while running. There is something about Zack that takes her breath away. Zack smiles at her but as quick as it appears, it quickly disappears. Feeling guilty for feeling something for someone else, Zack leaves quickly. Leaving Nikki a tad a disappointed at first, she shakes it off but they cross paths again when they’re in the same class and assigned in the same group.
“You’re different than other girls.” ~ Zack
Zack is attracted to Nikki and does everything he can to fight those feelings, until one of the group members tries to put a move on her. Unable to watch someone else with her, he makes his move. One date proves there is something strong between Zack and Nikki wanting both of them craving something more. Zack is starting to find happiness again and Nikki is finding life. Nikki also confides in Zack and tells her about finding her sister and he wants to help her. I loved watching Zack and Nikki fall in love with each other. They never meant to find each other, they just found each other one day. The more they spend together, the more their love grows. Zack does everything he can to make Nikki happy, including taking her places she has never been to and experienced before. They find comfort in each other and their love goes beyond a physical connection, it goes deeper. It’s as if they complete each other.
“I haven’t been able to think about anything but kissing you for days.” ~ Zack
“When you’re not around, I’m lonely in a room full of people. Everything is better with you. I’m better with you.” ~ Zack
Nikki has been doing some sneaking around the house to try and get some clues from her aunt about her twin sister. Zack has always supported her in every decision that she has made. He has never left her side; they spend every possible moment together. But when Nikki finds the truth on who her sister is, she feels alone all over again. Like her life is one big lie, her time with Zack was a lie. He knew who her sister was and was he in on this? Was this relationship just a game to him the entire time? Were his feelings for her even real? And her Aunt kept this secret for so long how could she not have told her. She feels even more betrayed. Not being able to return back to Zack or to her Aunt’s house, she escapes to the only place where she will find comfort in this time of despair. She runs away to Texas, where her life first began. To the one person who she knows she can trust.
“I don’t understand why this was our path, but I know fate brought us together.” ~Zack
What will happen between Nikki and Zack? Is their relationship reparable? Can he explain what happened? Are his feelings for Nikki real and sincere? Did he know anything about his sister? Will Nikki go back to California or will she remain in Texas? Will Nikki and her Aunt fix their relationship even after the secret of her sister is out?

Vi and Dylan did a fabulous job bringing both of their lives together. Seeing them overcome the situations that they are in, seek comfort in each other, and grow together was beautiful. I laughed, I cried and I rooted for their love to prevail when it seemed like they were going to fall apart. Ashley is Nikki’s best friend even though she is miles away, she is always there for her when she needs a friend. It shows that true friends are out there. I have a few of those myself and I’m thankful to have them in my life. Great job Vi and Dylan!

Excerpt
He looks up and I watch his eyes take me in.  Slowly.  They rake over me, dropping from my eyes to my glossed lips down to my exposed shoulders.  Taking his time, he follows the neckline of my simple, yet body contouring sundress, lingering when he reaches my full breasts.  I’m sufficiently covered, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t aware that the dress showed off my assets well.  Tight around my chest, gathering snuggly at the waist, with a scant amount of cleavage.  Just enough coverage to still leave something for him to imagine.  And I watch his face change as his imagination takes off running.
His eyes drift down my legs, tanned now from the eternal California sun.  Momentarily he’s lost in what he sees and doesn’t even notice I’m watching him leer.  Totally worth the extra effort getting ready tonight, I couldn’t be happier at the reaction I get.  Eventually, his eyes make their way back up to mine and I arch one eyebrow, letting him know he’s been caught.  A normal reaction might be to look embarrassed or perhaps even flustered a little.  But not Zack.  Instead, he flashes me a wicked grin.  “You look incredible.”  He’s the one doing the leering, yet I’m the one who ends up blushing.

About the Authors:

Vi Keeland is a native New Yorker with three children that occupy most of her free time, which she complains about often, but wouldn't change for the world. She is a bookworm and has been known to read her kindle at stop lights, while styling her hair, cleaning, walking, during sporting events, and frequently while pretending to work.  She is a boring attorney by day, and an exciting smut author by night!

Dylan Scott
Dylan Scott is a New York trial attorney, wife and mother of four.  She believes her job as a trial attorney is a subcategory to the field of entertainment more than law.   With a Bachelor's Degree in English Literature she believed teaching English was a destined career choice until she realized her life long talent of "argument" could actually be her job.   A recent, fairly boring, midlife crisis resulted in a brief stint as a middle school English teacher which confirmed that she wasn't ready to give up the law.   Dylan has also taught legal courses at the college level and worked with at-risk inner city youth in the roles of mentor and coach.  She is co-author Vi Keeland's biggest fan.
