BLOG TOUR - CONVICTED by ALEATHA ROMIG

SYNOPSIS:

There were still lessons to learn and consequences for the truth!

When Claire Nichols met Anthony Rawlings, she didn’t know they had a past, or that he had plans for her future. Over time, the role of teacher changed—games became reality—and domination turned to desire. Despite an insurmountable history, Claire and Tony found their way back to one another.

Just when they seemed to have it all—love, respect, and the promise of a family—the game master exposed the truth. Claire’s world once again spun out of control. Unwilling to allow her child to suffer the consequences of an old vendetta, Claire fled...

At one time, Claire was held captive in an opulent mansion—then her incarceration was a cell inside a state penitentiary. Was her new prison—a tropical island—truly less lonely? Perhaps that was the game master’s plan, all along?

Who will save Claire from her oldest nightmare and her newest reality? Will it be Tony? Can he forgive her for leaving him—again? Harry? Will he utilize previously unknown connections to save the woman who infiltrates his thoughts? Maybe Phil? Will his devotion in keeping Claire and her child safe be rewarded?

As the cards are played—sins of the past, innocent victims, and truths are revealed. With compartmentalization no longer an option, is the reality too much? Could there be an even worse isolation?

With the game master dealing from a stacked deck, can this new high-stakes game possibly be won?

When it’s all over and their cards are on the table—SOME will discover their bets were too high—they have nothing left to lose—ALL will learn the crucial lesson—the most important rule—there are CONSEQUENCES for the TRUTH!

Aleatha Romig’s CONVICTED!

REVIEW - By Liz Aguilar

We have arrived at the end of Tony and Claire’s journey, finally. What a journey it has been. I love the quote ‘Success is a journey, not a destination’ and it applies to their relationship. Even with all of the forces, inside and out, working against them they’ve managed to reach this point together. As we begin Convicted Tony and Claire have reconnected. They’re trying to make a fresh start, letting go of their past and moving forward. Their love has survived each other, but can they survive everyone else?

I started Convicted with a sense of trepidation. Reading took days and days. In the beginning I was reading so slowly because I was afraid I might miss something. We all know how Aleatha likes to bury little clues. Then I read even slower, unsure if I could take the ending. Convicted literally had me gnashing my teeth the entire time. Tums should really send Aleatha a nice thank you gift.

When I started reading I thought I had a pretty good clue as to what would happen. In some ways I did, but man oh man the curve balls kept coming. Is Phil really a bad guy? Are those horns holding up Harry’s halo? Will Tony fall for the manipulation and abandon Claire? Is Emily the ultimate hero in the story? Can Tony survive the knowledge that everything he's believed was manipulated? Is Tony really who he has known himself to be all these years? How do you make the innocent guilty and the guilty innocent? The questions were endless.

The twist and turns in Convicted are so mind blowing it makes the revelations in Consequences and Truth seem like a cake walk. I’ve never anticipated and dreaded a book so much in my life. The more I read the more my anxiety increased. There were points my hands hurt from clenching my kindle so tightly. My heart soared at times with the love between Tony and Claire. They are the ultimate argument that anyone can be taught a new trick (at least in a book).

My heart was also broken by the loss felt in the book. Tony and Claire’s relationship is so unique. There were moments I wanted to hug them and knock them upside the head. You’ll be frustrated, relieved, enlightened, clueless, heartbroken, healed, and that’s just in one paragraph. Imagine the rest of the book. The good news is you don’t have to imagine, you can pick the book up and read it today. You should one-click and start reading immediately!

All I can say is Aleatha Romig is the master of ‘What the fuck!' and making you come back from more without being embarrassed. “Everything is as it appears, and nothing is as it seems.”

REVIEW - By Heather Davenport

Aleatha Romig has done it again.  I have to say that this is a series that will keep your head spinning from start to finish.  As you all know, actions have consequences.  It was drilled into Claire’s head as well as mine as a reader.  With every consequence, there is truth.  The most important question throughout Convicted, was whether or not Claire could handle the truth. Is the whole truth is sometimes too much too handle?

With Claire pregnant, carrying Tony’s child, she had to do everything in her power to keep herself and her unborn child safe. Claire was playing the game of her life, and she was about raise the stakes and wager it all when she fled the states.  Would Tony be a key player in this game?  Should Claire have fled, leaving Tony behind?  Should she have trusted Tony to keep her and their baby safe?  Was Claire trying to keep her and her unborn child from Tony or something else?  If Claire knew the truth, would it change her feelings for Tony?

“If Tony had been willing to bet everything to take Claire – then surely he’d be willing to gamble it all - again, if he believed she needed rescued.” ~ Claire

Claire was hell bent on doing everything in her power to keep her and her baby safe, while she tried to uncover the truth.  Was Tony responsible for all of the things that happened in Claire’s life, or was it pure coincidence?  Claire and Tony were both children of children and so was their child.  Was Tony a target as well?  Who tried to run Claire off the road?  Who could they trust?  Would they ever be safe?

Throughout “Convicted” I was on the edge of my seat the entire time.  I have to say, it has never taken me 4 days to read a book.  It was as if I was reading this book in slow motion.  I needed to make sure I digested every detail that was revealed.  I was afraid if I read it at a normal pace, I would miss something imperative.  I could have also been reading it very slow, because I didn’t want it to end.  To be honest, I think it was a combination of both.

It is evident that Tony truly loved Claire.  I appreciated how Tony opened up to Claire and expressed his true feelings for her.  Tony didn’t grow up in a loving household.  So for him to show love, this was all new to him.  It was refreshing to see him love Claire.  I loved how Claire grew in her own skin.  Claire wasn’t that scared woman anymore.  Claire knew what she wanted and deserved and would not accept anything less.

“It was you – I fell in love with you while you were supposed to be my prisoner; however, I’ve loved you since before I knew love existed.” ~ Tony

I still have a LOVE/HATE relationship with Tony.  I want to love him, I truly do.  But I still can’t get past what he did to Claire in Consequences.  I want to see the good in him, and I know that he has changed.  I know that he has given Claire the truth behind why he did what he did, however, I still can’t say that I LOVE Tony.  He definitely pulled on the strings to my heart in Convicted.

Convicted will give you an ulcer while reading it.  You are finding out things that you didn’t even know had occurred.  You must pay close attention to detail, so you don’t miss anything.  There were several revelations that I was like OMG…  I would have never seen that coming.  All I can say is that when I finished reading Truth, I thought I knew everything.  However, that was the furthest thing from the TRUTH..  Everything isn’t always black and white.
