REVIEW BLITZ ~ MACK DADDY by Penelope Ward

mack daddy available

pwmackdaddybookcover5x8_bw_high-fixedFrom New York Times bestselling author, Penelope Ward, comes a sexy, STANDALONE second-chance romance.

They called him Mack Daddy. No, seriously, his name was Mack. Short for Mackenzie. Thus, the nickname. Perfect, right?

So was he: perfect. The perfect physical male specimen.

At the private school where I taught, Mack Morrison was the only man around in a sea of women.

Everyone wanted a piece of the hot single father of the sweet little boy.

I was riddled with jealousy, because they didn’t know that—to me—he was much more.

They didn’t know about our past.

He’d chosen my school for his son on purpose, because Mack and I, we had unfinished business.

As my friend Lorelai so eloquently put it: “Unfinished business between two people who are clearly attracted to each other is like an eternal case of blue balls.” And I was suffering in pain from my case.

I was still intensely attracted to Mack. I tried to resist him, immersing myself further into a relationship with another man just to protect my heart.

Not to mention, getting involved with a parent was strictly against school rules. But seeing Mack day in and day out was breaking me down.

And soon I might be breaking all the rules.

Author's note – Told in alternating points of view, Mack Daddy is a full-length standalone novel.

Review:

Penelope Ward is one of my go to authors and she knocked this book right out the park. This is a second chance story that will suck you in and screw with your emotions. But you will love what it does to you. Within the first few chapters I was laughing out loud, which is always a positive when reading a book. In my option, this book differs from all others. For once I see the guy get all gun ho and emotional about going after the girl. I loved that.

In college, Frankie fell in love with a boy who was unattainable. The truth of the matter, the heart wants what the heart wants whether it’s appropriate or not. She was not your typical female; she’s quiet, keeps to herself, her anxiety gets the best of her, and she is blind as a bat. Mack on the other hand, is the complete opposite. He’s loud, says what is on his mind, has a dirty mouth and is hot as hell. But you know what they say, opposites do attract. The duo ended up as roommates, getting to know deep into each other and became best friends. Mack fell for Frankie’s inner beauty. She made him see the world in a completely different view. He made her see that hiding behind the glasses was not the way to live. But the absolute downfall, Mack had a girlfriend. Totally makes him off limits.

Starting their relationship as best friends, you can truly see the attraction between the two. With Mack being in a relationship, they have skirted the line so many times but have never crossed it. it’s just not who they both are. They have never felt this way for anyone and yet they were too scared to go beyond. Mack’s situation did not help any. He felt like he was trapped. But when they feel the time is right, everything goes to shreds.

Years go by and Mack returns to Frankie’s life when he searches for her so she can become his son’s teacher. So twisted in a way, but this was his only way to see her once more; to make things right between them. Also, he knew she was the best person to help with his son. This throws Frankie off kilter, because she has moved on with her life and Mack coming back just confuses her.  Frankie instantly takes to Jonah, Mack’s son, seeing her younger self in the child. She knows exactly how to help with his situation.

I love that Frankie does put her past aside to help with Jonah’s situation. She really does go above and beyond for him. Considering all the things he has been through, she tries different tactics to help him out. I feel bad for Frankie and the situation Mack put her in. Here she is, moved on with her life, found a great man and the one person who has her whole heart comes stomping back in. You can’t but feel bad for Mack though, once we hear the complete story of what happened. I love his tenacity in trying to do everything he possibly can to get Frankie in his life again. I loved watching him try his hardest. He really went all out and gave everything he has.

But what happens with Frankie’s relationship when lines with Mack start to blur? What will happen when other relationships are being threatened? Will this be the end of them? Or can they finally have their chance to be together? Will their love for one another help them overcome all that they are put through?

I absolutely fell in love with Mack. His love for Frankie does truly show. You can tell his son is his first priority and the love he has for him is undeniable. He will do anything and everything to protect Jonah. His relationship with Frankie is not like any other. Their chemistry is bursting with energy, you can tell they absolutely fit. Frankie has come a long way and she has Mack to thank for helping her come out her shell. I loved her completely. She is just so kind hearted you can’t help but fall in love with her.

I just hate how Mack has so many excess baggage that threatens his happiness. I can’t help but feel bad for him on this account. I wish I can just strangle them! I did love Mack’s neighbor, Mrs. M., she is definitely a hoot.

Jay Crownover's RIVETED Review Tour

From the New York Times bestselling author of the Marked Men books comes the next installment in the Saints of Denver series.

From the New York Times bestselling author of the Marked Men books comes the next installment in the Saints of Denver series.

Everyone else in Dixie Carmichael’s life has made falling in love look easy, and now she is ready for her own chance at some of that happily ever after. Which means she’s done pining for the moody, silent former soldier who works with her at the bar that’s become her home away from home. Nope. No more chasing the hot as heck thundercloud of a man and no more waiting for Mr. Right to find her; she’s going hunting for him...even if she knows her heart is stuck on its stupid infatuation with Dash Churchill.

Denver has always been just a pit stop for Church on his way back to rural Mississippi. It was supposed to be simple, uneventful, but nothing could have prepared him for the bubbly, bouncy redhead with doe eyes and endless curves. Now he knows it’s time to get out of Denver, fast. For a man used to living in the shadows, the idea of spending his days in the sun is nothing short of terrifying.

When Dixie and Church find themselves caught up in a homecoming overshadowed with lies and danger, Dixie realizes that while falling in love is easy, loving takes a whole lot more work…especially when Mr. Right thinks he’s all wrong for you.

I devoured this book in one sitting. Church was to die for. He fits in perfectly with this group. They love you like family, they treat you like family and they look after you as if you were family.

Church doesn't have time for love. Everyone he loves, he loses. So why bother. He prefers to keep his distance from people. If he isn't around those he loves, then he can't hurt them. Well, that all changes when he realizes he has developed feelings fir Dixie.

Church has had his eyes on Dixie for quite some time. He watches her from a distance. She is safer that way. But everything changes, when Dixie makes it known that she has feelings for him. When Church is needed back home in Mississippi, he needs a favor. The only one he can turn to is Dixie.

Sparks fly, things change.

What would you do if the one person that has the ability to hurt you, needs you? Do you walk away? Do you help? Will Church realize that he can have it all?

Review:

This book is like her other books. Once you pick up the book the storyline will just suck you right in and you won't want to put the book down.  Although this was said to be a continuation of the Green Mountain Series, I did not read them. This is the first of this series that I have read. The only trouble I had was trying to figure out who was with whom. Once I figured that out, I was able to follow along with the story.  I have to be honest, it took me the first couple of chapters since there are a lot of family members. But then I got the hang of it and was able to move on.

Greyson.... Sigh... He’s all business and no play but if you look back he is a very successful person. not only that, he is a family man true and true. After having to help raise his siblings from a young age and to care for his mother, the last thing he wants is a family of his own to care for. He has never wanted or thought of being in a committed relationship until Emma

Greyson meeting Emma was a love at first sight event. You can absolutely tell from the get go that they are made for one another. Marie Force does a great job creating that. Her daughter Simone does have a hand in that. Her joking and bubbly personality softened Greyson up. It's hard not to love Simone. She is one smart young girl who adores her mother and will do anything for her. The love that she has for Emma is eminent. It hasn’t been an easy road for Emma, with being a single mother and all, but with the help of her family and close knit friends she has made a life for herself.

Emma and Greyson have no desire of being in a relationship, never have. Until the moment they met. Their relationship comes naturally to one another. Revealing things from their pasts, they haven’t shared with anyone. They are so in tune with one another. Though Emma is hesitant to pursue anything due to the distance of their lives. Emma has her own life in New York and Greyson is just starting his new one in Vermont. The sparks are undeniable and once they give in to it, they realize they're better together than apart.

You will fall for Greyson almost instantly. He is such a sweetheart. We hear about all the sacrifices he has made for his family, putting his needs on hold. But when Emma comes into his life, he puts her and Simone’s needs before himself. And the way he is with Simone…. He’s a natural with her.

When their time comes to a close, will what they started end? Or will they continue? Are their sparks and feelings for one another worth taking a risk? How will they continue their relationship living hours from one another? Sacrifices will have to be made, but who will cave?

Not only will you fall in love with Greyson, Emma and Simone, you will love their families too. They are such a close group who will bend over backwards for one another. And you will get a kick out of the matchmakers in the family… This book has made me want to read the others prior.
