RELEASE DAY BLITZ ~ OUT OF THE BLUE by Carina Adams

*This book is #2 in the 'Bama Boys series. While it can be read as a standalone, it is a continuation of book #1 and is meant to be read after Forever Red.*

Putting others needs before his own was all Mike Carson had ever done.

First, it was the friends he loved more than family. Then it was his country. By nineteen, he was a father, a husband and fighting in a war not many people believed in. After an accident ended his career and his life fell apart, he filled his days keeping screaming fans from reaching the most famous country rock star in the world. And, pining after a woman who would never love him.
Then, everything changed.

He thought he could handle anything that was thrown his way. He thought running my security detail would be the easiest job he’d ever had. He thought he’d be able to keep me safe without getting attached.

He was wrong.

They call me reckless, selfish, and slutty. In reality, I’ve just stopped caring what everyone else thinks. I’m determined to have some fun, to live life my way, and to make Mike realize that being a little selfish isn't the worst thing in the world.

I think we both have our work cut out for us.

**Book contains graphic language and adult content.**

Forever Red

Please note that Forever Red is only 99c right now!!!!!

The knock on the door drifted through my dreams, but I wasn’t ready to greet the day. An arm tightened around me, bringing my back closer to a toned chest, and I smiled. Last night had been amazing. So had this morning when Mike had woken me up with his tongue.
There were many things I’d seen while on tour with Nate—national monuments, wonders of the world, Mother Nature’s miracles. Nothing, and I mean nothing, was better than waking up to the view of Mike’s face between my thighs. The thought alone had me squeezing my legs together and pushing back into his warmth.
I had just started to drift back into unconsciousness when a door shut somewhere in the distance.
“Wakey, wakey, eggs and bakey!” Lia’s voice, way too perky that early in the morning, called out from the porch.
Mike growled out an inaudible response in his sleep, and I smiled, in complete agreement. When she called again, though, my subconscious wouldn’t let me ignore it and I was suddenly very awake. And very naked. Next to an equally bare Mike. I sat up in a panic.
Lia was leaning against the open French doors, laughing silently. “Morning, sunshine.”
Not only was she too energetic after drinking as much as she had the night before, she was too fucking happy about walking in on us. “This isn’t what it looks like.”
Her laughter bubbled out. “No?”
Before I could answer, a thick arm wrapped itself around my waist, making me jump in surprise, and pulled me back to the bed. Rolling over me, so his back was to the door, sheltering me, he kissed the tip of my nose. “Hello, beautiful.” He didn’t let me respond before he lifted his middle finger toward our friend. “It’s exactly what it looks like. Now fuck off.”
“I really wish I could.” The joy in her voice was clear, making me roll my eyes. “But we have to be on the road in fifteen minutes.”
“Ever hear of a fucking phone?” Mike asked, irritation clear.
Lia actually tsked at him, the way a mother or sister would. “Somebody didn’t get enough sleep last night.”
“I swear to fucking Christ, Lee…” Mike growled back.
Lia either didn’t take the threat seriously, or she didn’t care, laughing again. “Both of your phones went straight to voice mail, so I volunteered to come down and get you.” Clapping her hands, she continued. “Up, up. We’ve gotta get moving.”
Mike rolled his eyes. “Do not move.” Looking over his shoulder, he spoke to her. “I’m not getting out of this bed until you leave.”
“Please. It isn’t like I haven’t seen it before.”
Mike’s head jerked back to me when my body stiffened as the shock of that statement rocked me to my core.
“No.” He shook his head, reading my thoughts. “No.” I felt the blood drain from my face as a million different thoughts flooded my mind. A giant palm cupped my cheek and he leaned in to kiss me, as if trying to force my panic away. His thumb slid over my cheek as he spoke, “Clarify that, Lee.”

REVIEW:

I want to start off by saying I am a huge fan of Kristen Ashley's, I've yet to read a book I did not love, that I did not re-read and sometimes multiple times.  I have read the Chaos Series along with Motorcycle Man from the Dream Man Series and being honest while all of her books are stand alone and each series is just inter woven and I have read many of the series out of order with no problem.  With the Chaos Series I seriously advise to start with Motorcycle Man then into the Chaos Series.  I will not give spoilers but there are situations that go through and continue in each book for this series so it is highly recommended to read as I said.

Now, in Walk Through Fire we have Logan "High" Judd's story, in previous books he had been married to Deb and we start off this book where they are recently divorced and working on keeping their family together but separately.  See Logan and Deb had Cleo and while they didn't love each other they loved her to the ends of the earth and wanted to give her a family. While married Logan wanted Cleo to have a sibling and convinced Deb to have another and then came Zadie.  All the while Logan existed through life for his girls but him and Deb they really just existed and realized they weren't going to work and decided to amicably split and raise their girls together but not.

See Logan had that one that got away, she was the one and he wasn't going to find her again. She forced him to leave after 3 blissful years where he thought they had their forever and he never knew why.  She said he wasn't going anywhere with the Club and she wanted more in life, that angered him because she was always ok and she knew what he was he never hid that and all of the sudden it wasn't good enough.  He was angry, very very angry and he suffered long and hard.

Millie Cross loved Logan more then she loved herself, would you Walk Through Fire to ensure your other half had everything he dreamed of, everything you dreamed of but no longer could give.  Would you let him go and give the ultimate sacrifice of living your life without the person who not only completed you but gave you the air your breathed.  Would you make it so he never came back and hated you so that he could move on for what you believed was the greater good of him.  Could you love someone so much that you would literally throw all of your dreams and aspirations down the drain so he could have what you couldn't give anymore.  That is what Millie did and she did it for Logan, he just never knew.

I will not tell you the story, you have to learn for yourself but let me tell you that this book, while I wanted to punch someone at times and shake someone at others, is just plain amazing.  In reading many books I have learned that I need the angst, I need the grit, I need the sweet and I need the righting the wrongs.  I used to think I can't take too much angst I just can't handle it but in the end after reading for years and all it could take me 3-4 days to read a hearts and flowers book, I had a hard time putting Walk Through Fire down, it is 615 pages of perfection, I couldn't wait to find out what was going to happen next.  It was the perfect mesh of angst and hearts and flowers.

I also have to say I loved Deb, I loved the way she was and her character, I loved who she was too High and what she became to Millie.  I think you can learn a lot from not being evil and vindictive and she was the picture of class.  I loved that she shared her girls and she was a mom, mom first friend second and that is the way it should be.  She didn't hold her girls over High because she knew he would move heaven and earth for them, she trusted within him and she didn't judge even if his life wasn't for her.  I love that the ex didn't have to be the enemy and I love that KA went that route.

We also continue with Elvira who I think is my favorite side character in any book I have ever read, I wish she had her own story but honestly you learn about her throughout each book so I don't know how that would be done but I love her and have to give a shot out.

In the end while there were times I was boiling mad and others I could have cried there is no way I can't give this book a 5 stars, it pulled many emotions and I love the Chaos Clan and will miss them when the series is done.

EXCERPT:

I beeped the locks and had a hand to the handle when I heard, “Lookin’ for me?”
When that deep, coarse voice came at me through the dark, my body became paralyzed, my eyes glued to my hand on the handle.
Then it kept coming at me.
“Bitch, followed you the last forty-five minutes. Reb got in touch. Told me you hit Scruff’s.” On the next, the voice was nearer. “You’re lookin’ for me. So tell me what the fuck you want so you can quit lookin’ and I can quit lookin’ at you.” Slowly, I turned, my head going back automatically because I felt him close and I knew what close to Logan meant.
I was five-seven.
He was six-one.
He towered over me, or at least that’s what it always felt like because he wasn’t only tall, he was also a big guy with a big presence.
And right then, it felt like that, especially since his big presence was an angry one.
His face was in shadows, I could barely see it.
But I could feel him.
And I could smell him.
God, I could smell him.
He didn’t wear cologne or aftershave. His scent was all his. And I remembered lying in our bed holding his pillow to me, my face shoved into the sheets, taking him in after I’d made him walk away.
His scent hadn’t changed. Not even a nuance.
Smelling it without warning felt like walking unsuspecting into the street and having a truck slam into you. And that feeling was so strong it was a wonder my body didn’t go careening through the trucks and bikes, slamming into them, shattering every bone.
He moved forward so he was in my space, the smell strengthened and my body tightened to guard against it.
“Woman, after all this time, whatever shit you gotta hand me, fuckin’ do it,” he ordered irately. “You got two seconds to spit it the fuck out. You don’t, you won’t get another chance, and you know I’ll make it that way. So this is your only shot. Take it or get in your fuckin’ car and get your ass outta my world.”
I stared into the shadows of his face, wishing with everything that I could see it.
Apparently, I did this for two seconds because Logan bit out, “Right. See nothin’s changed. Weak. Now get your ass . . .” he dipped his face to mine, “gone.”
And when he did, I got up on my toes and kissed him.
It was totally crazy.
But I also totally couldn’t help it.
He smelled so fucking good.
And he was Logan.
Close. Right there. His face in mine.
He jerked away, muttering a disgusted, “What the fuck?”
But the words or their tone didn’t penetrate.
I smelled him and I’d had a taste.
I was gone.
I lifted both hands to either side of his head, yanked him down to me, and went back in, going for it, giving it my all. Even when his fingers clenched painfully into my hips pushing them back to set me away, I held on tighter and shoved my tongue between his lips.
It touched his, just that, just a touch, and then I cried out into his mouth when I found my back slammed into my SUV.
But it wasn’t his way to get me to let him go.
No.
His head slanted and he forced my tongue out of his mouth when his invaded mine.
And that was when I was gone.
I was already gone but right then there was nothing to me.
Nothing at all.
Except my hands on Logan’s head, his body pressing mine into my car, his smell all around us, his tongue plundering my mouth, all this exploding fire everywhere.
He drove a hand into my hair, twisting it, the pain bristling over my scalp and I cried out into his mouth again even as I arched deeper, pressed closer, willing, like it had always been, to give it all because he was Logan, he got it all.
But also because I knew I’d get it back a hundredfold.
He swayed us forward so his other arm could lock across my back and he kept at my mouth as I rolled way up on my toes, pushing deep, wrapping my arms around his neck, consumed by the kiss and not giving that first fuck.
I was ready to ride it out.
No, I needed to ride it out.
No matter where it went.
He broke away and that was when my hand went into his hair, fisting tight in protest.
“That what you want?” he growled, his voice lower, the abrasion physical, and I shivered with delight.
I wasn’t entirely certain of the question but I answered a breathy, “Yes.”
“That’s what you want,” he repeated, a statement this time, seeking confirmation.
“Yes, Logan.”
He let me go but took my hand, his skin rough against my fingers. The feel of it back after all these years washed through me and I fancied I remembered every time, in quick succession, from the first night we met to the night before I broke it off when he’d taken my hand and guided me somewhere.
Lost in it like I’d always been lost in it, I followed blindly.
Attached to Logan, I’d go anywhere.
Even if we were walking through fire.

About the author:

Kristen Ashley grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana, and has lived in Denver, Colorado, and the West Country of England. Thus she has been blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her posse is loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write. Kristen was raised in a house with a large and multigenerational family. They lived on a very small farm in a small town in the heartland, and Kristen grew up listening to the strains of Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon, and Whitesnake. Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music and love was a good way to grow up. And as she keeps growing up, it keeps getting better.

Irresistibly Yours (Oxford #1) by Lauren Layne

BLURB:

Meet the men of Oxford magazine! In the first captivating spin-off of Lauren Layne’s Sex, Love & Stiletto series, a not-so-friendly battle of the sexes turns into a scorching office romance.

Hotshot sports editor Cole Sharpe has been freelancing for Oxford for years, so when he hears about a staff position opening up, he figures he’s got the inside track. Then his boss drops a bombshell: Cole has competition. Female competition, in the form of a fresh-faced tomboy who can hang with the dudes—and write circles around them, too. Cole usually likes his women flirty and curvy, but he takes a special interest in his skinny, sassy rival, if only to keep an eye on her. And soon, he can’t take his eyes off her.

Penelope Pope knows all too well that she comes off as just one of the guys. Since she’s learned that wanting more usually leads to disappointment, Penelope’s resigned to sitting on the sidelines when it comes to love. So why does Cole make her want to get back in the game? The man is as arrogant as he is handsome. He probably sees her as nothing more than a barrier to his dream job. But when an unexpected kiss turns into a night of irresistible passion, Penelope has to figure out whether they’re just fooling around—or starting something real.

REVIEW:

This is the first book that I have read by Lauren Layne.  I am very grateful that the publisher sent me the blurb for this book with the opportunity to review. Immediately I was drawn to the blurb. So once I sat down to read Irresistibly Yours, I was a goner. I could not put it down and was sucked in from he very beginning.

Penelope Pope moved to New York City to try and secure a Sports Senior Editor position at the infamous Oxford Magazine after her heart was broken by the man she thought she was in love with.  Not only did he shatter her heart, he also stole her dream  job right from underneath her.

Cole Sharpe is a freelance sports writer for Oxford Magazine, so when the position for the Senior Editor position became available, he assumed he had the position in the bag. Yet, that wasn't the case. Little did he know, he had some fierce competition. His competition, was a little fierce brunette tomboy by the name of Penelope Cruz.

When the two of them meet my mistake, Cole is drawn to her. He can't keep his eyes off of her. He doesn't understand why, because she is not his type.  But there is something about her that he enjoys spending time with her. Could it be their love for sports? Could it be that she is simply kind and innocent, something new that Cole isn't used to?

When the two of them interview for the same position, neither one of them expected the outcome.

Penelope is her own worst enemy, her worst critic. She has always been a tomboy, with her body which lacks curves. She doesn't feel desired. She feels as though no man would look at her to be attractive, that they are out of her league. But in reality, men can't seem to take their eyes off of her. Men are attracted to her, men are drawn to her. Cole is drawn to her. Cole is attracted to her. Cole yearns to touch her. To kiss her. To be inside her.  So when an unexpected kiss turns into a night of irresistible passion.  Penelope has to figure out whether they’re just fooling around—or starting something real.

Cole has quite the reputation as being a ladies man. He loves sports and his brother. That is it. He has no room for a girlfriend in his life. Once he and Penelope begin to spend time with each other, he realizes that he misses her when she isn't around. He misses the conversations that they have. The connection that they have with each other. He has never had a connection with another woman, like the one he has with Penelope.  Cole and Penelope's relationship changes in an instant. One night changed it all. One kiss changed everything.

What happens when the two people vow they won't fall in love with the other? Will they decide there are alternative ways to get what you want, but at the time time, keep your hearts safe? Sometimes our hearts want more than we our brains.

Cole and Penelope have an amazing chemistry, one that the readers can relate to. Their banter, their friendship is what made their relationship special. Both Penelope and Cole need to learn that they are both capable of loving. That they can trust each other. That they won't hurt each other. But will the two of them be able to do that. I guess you will have to read it to find out.

Irresistibly Yours is a MUST READ !!!  I absolutely LOVED this book. I will definitely be continuing with the Oxford Series. I will be one clicking some of this author's previous work.

Hope Burns (Hope #3) by Jaci Burton

BLURB:

A novel of small-town hearts and big dreams...

Molly Burnett dreads returning to her hometown of Hope for her sister’s wedding, especially knowing she’ll have to endure a weekend with the one man she never wants to see again. It’s only a couple of days, so Molly will try to forget her painful past with high school sweetheart Carter Richards. Because despite the bitter memories, she still can’t forget what they once meant to each other.

But when Molly is forced to extend her stay, Carter sees this as his second chance to do things right, to start over again with the only woman he’s ever loved. This time, he isn’t going to let Molly run. Together they’re going to confront the past and put it behind them, and hope for a future as bright as the flame that still burns hot between them.

REVIEW:

Molly and Carter were so young and in love. They had their whole lives planned out with each other. Then something horrible happened and they broke up. Instead of dealing with life's struggles, Molly ran from them. For twelve years... Until she finally had to return home for her Sisters wedding. She was the Maid of Honor. And could not back out knowing she would see Carter.  I loved this story. There are some people out there who dwell on the negative and run from their past because they don't really know how to deal with it instead of just figuring it out and dealing with things as a couple. But they were young and running was the only thing Molly knew how to do to make her forget about what happened.

I fell in love with Carter. After they were forced to spend some time together, He was so cautious with her knowing if he said the wrong thing in the slightest bit, she would be off running again and he would lose her, again. I highly recommend putting this on your to be read list!!!! It was an amazing story filled with heartache, love, amazing friendships, humor, and unexpected twist.

But once in a lifetime kind of love doesn’t come easy. When trust crumbles and doubts creep in, both will have to decide to either love or let go... forever.

Welcome to Briarcrest Academy, where sometimes, only the wicked survive.

REVIEW:

Can opposites attract? Can two people that grew up in different worlds have a relationship? Will their pasts keep them apart? Will their pasts effect their future?  What will Dovey do when her past forces her to make decisions that will effect her life? Decisions that will effect her and Cuba.

Love is hard, but when you have so many factors pulling you apart, you have to fight harder. But will Dovey and Cuba fight to stay together or will their love destroy them?

Very Wicked Things is a great read. I fell in love with Cuba and Dovey in Very Wicked Beginnings , so I was dying to see what happened with the two of them in Very Wicked Things.

Ilsa will have you on the edge of your seats while reading. These two are both fighting the demons of the past, and they are struggling as individuals, not to mention as a couple. Your heart will brake for both, Cuba and Dovey. There were several moments that I wanted to punch Cuba in the balls on Dovey's behalf. Things that came out of his mouth were horrid. But when one hurts, they usually lash out. So while I struggled to hate him for the things he did, I still loved him.

Dovey will steal your heart. You will route for her from the beginning. She is strong. She is fierce. She is not a quitter. She was an amazing heroin.

In Very Wicked Things, you will definitely get the wicked moments, but you will also get the sweet, sensual ones as well. I highly recommend this series. You will LOVE it.
