L.J. Shen never disappoints. I was always curious as to what made Hunter tick when we got glimpses of him in Broken Knight and Angry God. Let me tell you, buckle up, hold on tight, because you are in for quite the ride.
Hunter loves sex and can't seem to keep his fly zippered. He also can't seem to stay away from liquor. Two things he overindulges in. Time and time again, he manages to disappoint his father, and his sex tape was the last straw, now he is on lockdown.
Sailor was hired to be his babysitter. The two of them are polar opposites to some degree. Sailor is closed off, focused on becoming an Olympic athlete. Hunter is outgoing and focused on getting his hands on his inheritance. But that comes with a cost. He must be celibate for six months? Is that even possible? This is Hunter we are talking about?
When Sailor signed up for this jig, she never expected to develop feelings. Hunter never expected to develop feelings for the introvert. “Why?” I asked, blinking at him in confusion. I had two left legs and the coordination of roadkill. I couldn’t dance if my life depended on it. I’d tried dancing at the only party I’d ever gone to—sophomore year—and was subjected to such thorough humiliation. People took videos of me dancing and forwarded it to half my school. “Did you tell anyone we were dating?”
“This is the lamest twenty-questions game I’ve ever participated in. No.”
“Well, people are talking about us.”
“That’s what people do. They fill the air with useless words to entertain each other. It’s called gossip, and it sucks all the asses in the world. Doesn’t mean it was me. Our building employs more than a hundred people. All of them work for my father. That means he’s spreading whatever the hell he wants to spread.”
