Synopsis

Things are going good for Callie and Kayden. They’re still dealing with their past and the pain connected to it, but for the most part they’ve moved on. The biggest decision they have at the moment is what they want to do with their lives in the future. Eventually, though, the past catches up with them and they’re left facing tough choices. But Callie and Kayden learn that as long as they have each other, they can make it through just about anything. And in the end, they discover what they really want out of life.

“She’s just being nice,” Kayden says gazing down at me. His hair is ruffled and his jawline is scruffy and he looks so happy. “And it’s nice… that she wants to be so nice... it could be worse than an overnice mother.” “Yeah, I know.” I sigh, knowing he’s right, that it could be worse, that I could have a mother like his mother. “I just wish she’d be just a little bit less embarrassing.” I raise my hand and make a pinching gesture with my fingers. “Maybe just a teeny tiny bit.” “Yeah, I doubt that’s ever going to happen.” Kayden slips his shirt off and chucks it aside. His jeans ride low on his hips, giving me a view of his abs and chest that is crisscrossed with scars. “I did find it funny when she kept cracking jokes all through dinner about how she thinks we’re going to end up getting married.” He kneels down on the mattress, nudging my knees open with his knees until I spread open my legs for him. “Oh God.” Shaking my head, I cover my face with my hands. “I’m glad you find it funny because I’m sure most guys would be running for their lives.” The mattresses moves as he leans over me and puts a hand on each side of my head. I crack my fingers apart and look at him. He’s been so much happier since he put the past behind him. He seems to breathe freer, smile more, and it’s probably the most beautiful sight I’ve ever seen. “Well, just make sure you really want this,” I say as he moves one of my hands away from my eyes. “Because you still have time to run.” He shakes his head, his tongue slipping out of his mouth to wet his lips. “No running here,” he whispers in a raspy voice that I know only means one thing—he wants me. “Ever.” He moves my other hand away from my face then pins my arms above my head. A while ago, the movement would have sent my heart soaring and not in a good way. But now… well, it freaking soars like a bird high up in the sky never wanting to return to land ever. It soars because it’s free. It soars for him. “You want me,” I tease as he leans down to kiss me. “You’re right,” he says. “And then I want to give you your present.” “But you already gave me my present.” I pat my pocket where the tickets to the concert are that he gave me. He said it was for a redo of a night that should have been special, but he couldn’t give it to me then, but he was ready now to give me everything I deserve—his words not mine. My mom practically fainted when he said it. And me, well I think I fell in love with Kayden even more. “Yeah, but that one was only the first part.” He kisses me, then softly bites my bottom lip before he leans back for air. “There’s more,” he breathes against my lips, coming in for another kiss. “But you have to wait.” “Until when?” I wonder, my heart skipping a beat as his hands wander for the button of my jeans. “Until we’re done with this.” He gives me a wicked smile as he flicks my button undone.

Synopsis

You met Ryder Richardson in Being Sawyer Knight. Now, this is his story. I’ve done it. I’ve stuck a whopping two fingers up at my parents, I’ve made a name for myself as one of the world’s biggest porn stars and I’ve finally found a family I belong in. Life is amazing. I get paid to do all my favourite things. Fuck. Party. Travel the world. What’s not to love? And then he comes along. Mason George – Back Door Studio’s newest exclusive model and the guy who has the potential to either fuck it all up, or take me on the best ride of my life. ~ Ryder I’m desperate. I’ve got nothing and nobody left. Entering the daunting world of adult entertainment is less of a dream and more of a necessity. Signing as Back Door Studio’s latest model has the ability to either ruin or make me, but I made a vow at my first audition never to let myself regret it. I continue to question myself each day, but no amount of what’s, why’s or what ifs will change where I am or where I’m heading. Am I strong enough to do this? To embrace it? To enjoy it? I have no idea. The only thing I’m certain of, is that if anyone can teach me who I’m supposed to be, it’s Ryder Richardson. ~ Mason “Because the most exciting things in life always happen via the back door”

Meet the Author

Nicola Haken

Author of the New Adult/Contemporary novels Missing Pieces, Saving Amy and the Take My Hand series, and m/m erotic romance Souls of the Knight series.
I live in Rochdale, England with my wonderful family and when I'm not playing with my imaginary friends I can usually be found looking after my four adorable (sometimes!) children (six if you include the dogs, seven if you include the hubby!) or stalking gay porn stars! All in all I'm just an ordinary mum with an addiction to reading about hot book guys, writing about hot book guys, tattoos and Pepsi Max! Oh, and if my kids ever ask... I moonlight as the Pink Power Ranger ;-)

excerpt

“Perfect! You’re getting into the spirit faster than I thought you would.” “Why’d you say that?” “I just get the feeling this isn’t your first choice sometimes. The porn I mean.” Mason’s eyebrows furrowed, his eyes narrowing as he contemplated my words. “Maybe it’s not. But I chose this, and as with every other job I’ve ever had I will give it my everything. To say I’m doing this because I’ve no other choice, like I’m being forced into it or only doing it because I’m desperate is disrespectful to both the industry and to me.” “Hey, that’s not what I meant,” I said genuinely, worried I’d offended him. “Oh I know you didn’t. I just wanted to put it out there, that’s all. I don’t know many people, but of those I do I know they’ll judge me for this when they find out. Too many people assume going into this industry means we’re either damaged, desperate or fucking whores who deserve to be seen as nothing more than a walking fuck hole.” “Well fuck ‘em. Anyone who doesn’t see you for who you are isn’t worth knowing. We’re all in it for different reasons, and those reasons are no one else’s goddamn business. It’s just a job. A fucking great job, but still a job nonetheless.” “You really think it’s a great job?” “Sure I do! I love sex, and I get to fuck hot guys for a living. Who wouldn’t love that?” “But it’s different, no? I know I’ve only done one scene, but it’s a whole different ballgame than when you’re intimate with someone.” “I don’t do intimacy, so I wouldn’t know.” “So, you’ve never had a relationship?” “No. Not something I’m looking for.” “You don’t think it’d work? Being in porn?” “It’s got nothing to do with the porn. A few of the guys are in relationships. Gio’s been with his guy almost a year and they’re still going strong. It’s just not something I want, regardless of the career I’ve chosen.” “You must get lonely though. We all do. Don’t you hope to find someone you can just… I don’t know, share things with one day? Be there for you?” “No,” I said curtly, hoping my tone would be enough to stop him probing further.

My life is proof.

For eleven years, I’ve suffered from a suspicion that has waged a war inside my head, filled me with rage. Left me feeling helpless.

But then she came along.

The darkness continues to consume me, but when I’m with her, I can ignore it, push it away. Even if only for a little while.

Payton calms me. She manages to quiet the noise in my head. But the secret is still there, still continuing to plague me day after day. Yet I still can’t bring myself to tell her even though she deserves to know. She needs to know.

I love her. And I’ll do anything to protect her.

Sebastian Trovato...
“Want a tour?” I asked, pressing my lips to the soft skin of her neck.
“Yeah,” she said, sounding a little breathless.
Reluctantly, I released her so I could show her around. It wasn’t that I wanted to give her a grand tour of the house I would be moving out of in the near future, but it was that or toss her over my shoulder and carry her to my bedroom. I wasn’t a patient man, but with Payton, I knew I had to make a concession. The last thing I wanted to do was scare her off.
So, we made our way to the kitchen. I didn’t use the area often, mainly because I wasn’t much of a cook and living alone, it just wasn’t a place I spent a lot of time. The stainless steel appliances were state of the art and picked out by my stepmother. They looked good with the modern white cabinets and black granite countertops, also designed by Lauren. The decorations that sat on the tops of the counters weren’t my idea either, but since the housekeeper dusted and cleaned once a week, I didn’t bother to toss them into a cabinet. Like I said, this was the room I probably spent the least amount of time in.
“What’s in your refrigerator?” Payton asked, grinning at me before releasing my hand. “Are you hungry?” I asked, confused by her question.
“Nope. But what’s in the refrigerator tells a lot about a person.”
“That right?” I’d never heard that before.
And I wasn’t sure the few things in my refrigerator were going to say a lot about me.
Especially since I didn’t do my own grocery shopping either. “Orange juice, yogurt, milk, cheese... water.” Payton glanced back at me, her waist length dark hair sliding over her shoulder and falling down her back. Her smile was radiant and I knew right then that I wanted to see her in my kitchen more often. Not so that she could cook for me or any sexist bullshit like that, just because she made the space that much more welcoming.
“What does that say about me?” I asked, hopping up onto the counter and watching her. “It says you’re boring, Sebastian.”
I chuckled, continuing to watch her rummage through the contents. “Boring, huh?” “No beer?”
“I don’t drink that much. Usually only when I go out.” I hadn’t bothered to mention to Payton that I had a highly addictive personality which was the reason I avoided certain things. I didn’t drink much, rarely at home; I didn’t smoke, although I’d stupidly done so to be cool when I was younger. I’d never tried drugs either. My drug of choice was adrenaline which was why I raced. I released the pent up anger by beating the shit out of the heavy bag in my weight room, knowing that if I didn’t, the undercurrent would eventually invade my life and turn me into someone I didn’t want to look at in the mirror each day.
“Interesting.”
I wanted to know just what was going through her head, but I didn’t get to ask because she was on a roll.
“Do you eat cereal?” Payton closed the refrigerator door and opened the freezer.
“Sometimes. Would that make me less boring?”
“Maybe. At least you’ve got ice cream.”
“I do?” I really had no idea.
“Vanilla,” she said, grinning widely. “Imagine that.”
“I’ll have to remember to add chocolate to the grocery list,” I told her, remembering the first time I took her out for ice cream.
“You do that. Get chocolate syrup while you’re at it.”
Yep, my ass hopped right down off that counter so damn fast it was a wonder I didn’t face plant on the gray travertine floor. “Alrighty, then. Time to see another room.” I grabbed her hand and tugged her into the formal living room, shifting uncomfortably as my jeans became just a little too tight.

MeetTheAuthor

If you are wondering who I am, then I'm here to tell you. Timberlyn is the sweeter alter ego of New York Times bestselling author Nicole Edwards.

I can hear the question now... Why? Why do you have another pen name?

It actually came about when a storyline developed in my head. As I saw it coming together, I knew it was vastly different than what Nicole Edwards writes. So, it was then that I was created.

Anyway... Thanks for stopping by. I'm so glad you did.
