This dynamic duo never ceases to amaze me. Every book they write seems to top their previous book. I’m positive that they’ve become masters when it comes to slow burn books, this topping them all. I carved some time to read, but little did I underestimate that it was going to consume me for the next week. I’m still not able to read another book.
It all started with Molly looking for a roommate with all her applicants being complete fails. Until Declan that is. Being a guy, he was a hard no, at first. Until he persuaded her with cupcakes. A guy after my own heart… swoon.. They start their friendship, as two roommates getting to know one another. They work opposite schedules so the living situation works for the both of them. Molly is a nurse, who has a major crush on a doctor at the hospital, while Declan works in advertising crushing on his teammate. Declan is a much better cook than Molly so he leaves her little surprises in the fridge. He knows she loves breakfast so he always makes it a point to make it for her especially when she is having a rough day. He picks up on the little things he can do to help brighten her day. It may be subtle things but she takes notice of what he is doing. Doing things to make her smile seems like a natural feeling for him. It’s the little things he does for her that just make me swoon. I feel like they compliment each other well. She likes things to be nice and orderly, while he’s more carefree.
Molly and Declan have their own issues as to what’s holding them back from any long, meaningful relationships with anyone. It definitely was an adventure to see them navigate through all those issues, both individually and together. I loved watching them both grow and learn things about themselves.
I have been cheering Team Molly and Declan on from the beginning, even when they had feelings for other people. I was waiting for them to see what was really in front of them, like I wanted to shake some sense into them. But they were determined to just remain friends and not cross that line. They’ve done a great job for quite some time. Declan then ups the ante and suggests that they pretend to be into one another to make their crushes notice them and of course that works. I was not too fond of this idea LOL. Little did they know that all that pretending was going to spark the feelings that they were trying to prevent. Molly and Declan have that natural chemistry. They just fit well with one another. But it’s never easy with these two. Something always seems to get in their way. It’s been one big rollercoaster ride for these two, a lot of emotions happening, and things I would have never predicted. The past issues always seem to creep back into your life when you least expect it.
Not only did I love Molly and Declan, the other characters were just as amazing. Sister Catherine, I'd love to have a sister like her. I mean she literally is Declan's sister, who is a nun... a very awesome one at that. Declan has the support of his family even from miles away. I loved the relationship Molly was able to form with her father, despite a rocky past. I feel like Declan helped with that.
I absolutely loved this book. I was hooked from the absolute beginning. A lot of up and downs, lots of toying with my emotions and I don’t think I laughed this much in a while. I was extremely sad to see the story end. I've always tried to live my life with no regrets and to have fun with my family. This book has spoken to me in so many ways.
