The Boy & His Ribbon by Pepper Winters

Description:

REVIEW BY HEATHER D:

This is the first book of Pepper Winters that I have read. And it definitely will not be the last.

Where do I begin? There are some books that stay with you. Have an impact on you. The characters wiggle their way into your heart, and they grab hold and vow to never let go.  The Boy & His Ribbon is one of those.  This book.....  is EPIC.

Ren and Della take you on a journey of survival, sacrificing, trust, friendship, and love.  Ren's story broke my heart in the first chapter of the book. So when he took me on his journey, I loved his determination, his protectiveness, and his values. When faced with an obstacle when he discovers he took something from the farm when he ran, he had choices to make. Choices a ten-year-old never should have to face.

Lets fast forward...  I will not give any spoilers, so I can't go into too many details in my review. But TRUST ME....  You want to read this book.

As the years go by, Ren and Della become each other's world.  They are both faced with difficulties as they grow into themselves. As they try to find their way in life. There is a ten-year difference between the two. Ren always the protector, Della always the child.  But what happens when Della is no longer a child?  Will Ren be able to control her? Discipline her? Will their past come back to haunt them? Hurt them?

When you love someone, that has the power to destroy you. The power to cripple you. That's exactly what love did to Ren and Della. Sometimes you love someone who you shouldn't. There is a difference between being in love with someone and loving someone. Do Ren and Della know the difference between the two?

I devoured this book. I never wanted it to end. I went on this journey with Ren and Della and I hurt for them. My heart literally hurt for the two of them. I have to say the only thing I am mad about is... I have to wait for The Girl & Her Ren to release. I wish I could read them back to back.

DEFINITELY, A 5 STAR READ

Teaser - Mogul by Katy Evans

SYNOPSIS:

He's my most delicious secret.

The hot Suit I had a one-night stand with one evening.

I didn't know anything about him, not even his name.

Only that we shared a taxi, and he was staying at the hotel where I worked.

We met in room 1103. Where he commanded not only my body but my soul.

The next day he was gone and I only had a memory of him.

I could still taste his kisses, feel his demanding touch.

I searched for him for months. Daydreaming about him. Wondering if I'd ever find him.

Until the day I find myself staring face to face with his jeweled black eyes again.
He says lets keep it casual, and my heart knows that falling for this workaholic in a three-thousand-dollar suit is off the table.

Because he has a secret. One that's a deal breaker for me.

My Suit has a name.

Ian Ford.

And this is our story.

*Mogul contains characters from Tycoon, but is written to be read as a standalone.

REVIEW by Heather:

Fox was a great ending to this trilogy. I loved how we got drama and angst in Stone and Cold, and we got the love in Fox. I adore Levi. Don't get me wrong, I love his snarky, arrogant side in Stone, but he all HOT and SWOON WORTHY in Fox. He cherishes Ivy and he makes sure she knows it everyday.

Ivy was able to brake down the walls that Levi had built around his heart. Tragedy brought them together in Stone, yet tragedy made them even closer in Fox. They both realized they needed each other. They have both experienced awful circumstances. Levi was able to help Ivy heal as she did with him. Ivy brought Levi back to life when they first met. Ivy made Levi feel for the first time in years. So when Ivy loses someone she loves, Levi is there to help her. He doesn't allow her to shut down, to build a wall around her heart. He won't allow her to make the same mistakes he did.

Levi and Ivy are great together. The two of them both feed off of each other. The push and pull between them is great. They balance each other out.

Fox was the perfect ending to this series.

REVIEW by Heather:

I am speechless. This series was AMAZING ! I am not a fan of cliffhangers, and if you read Rebel Heir, we were left with a HUGE cliffy.  So I was thrilled to know that Rebel Heart was releasing quickly.

Rush is HOT !!!!  Gia is fierce !!! The two of them together, a force to reckoned with.  I have to be honest and say I was not shocked at the secret revealed in Rebel Heart. I suspected it in Rebel Heir.

Rush is the perfect amount of cocky and alpha, and the perfect amount of swoon worthiness.  When reading the book, I would picture him perfectly in my head. Penelope and Vi nailed the character with Micah on the cover. Shall we say PERFECT ........

The Rush Duet series is HOT!!!  You will definitely want to grab this duet. I even one clicked it for my mom (lol)  Gia and Rush have a connection that is undeniable. The two of them fight hard, but they love even harder.

Definitely a 5 star read for me.

How to kick off a great summer in the Hamptons: Snag a gorgeous rental on the beach. Check. Get a job at a trendy summer haunt. Check. How to screw up a great summer in the Hamptons: Fall for the one guy with a dark leather jacket, scruff on his face, and intense eyes that doesn’t fit in with the rest of the tony looking crowd. A guy you can’t have when you’ll be leaving at the end of the season. Check. Check. Check. I should add—especially when the guy is your sexy, tattooed God of a boss. Especially when he not only owns your place of employment but inherited half of the town. Especially when he’s mean to you. Or so I thought. Until one night when he demanded I get in his car so he could drive me home because he didn’t want me walking in the dark. That was sort of how it all started with Rush. And then little by little, some of the walls of this hardass man started to come down. I never expected that the two of us, seemingly opposites from the outside, would grow so close. I wasn't supposed to fall for the rebel heir, especially when he made it clear he didn’t want to cross the line with me. As the temperature turned cooler, the nights became hotter. My summer became a lot more interesting—and complicated. All good things must come to an end, right? Except our ending was one I didn’t see coming.

Blog - Tour - BANE by LJ Shen

SBPR-BT-BANNER-2

Bane-Cover-Facebook

Bane, the highly-anticipated next standalone in the Sinners of Saint Series by L.J. Shen is LIVE

Bane

Naked surfer. Habitual pothead. A con, a liar, a thief and a fraud.

Last I heard, he was extorting the rich and screwing their wives for a living.

Which is why I’m more than a little surprised to find him at my threshold, looking for my friendship, my services, and most puzzling of all—looking humbled.

Thing is, I’m on a boycott. Literally—I cut boys from my life. Permanently.

Problem is, Bane is not a boy, he is all man, and I’m falling, crashing, drowning in his sweet, perfect lies.

Jesse Carter

Hot as hell, cold as ice.

I wasn’t aware of her existence until a fat, juicy deal landed in my lap.

She’s a part of it, a little plaything to kill some time.

She is collateral, a means to an end, and a side-bonus for striking a deal with her oil tycoon stepdad.

More than anything, Jesse Carter is a tough nut to crack.

Little does she know, I have the f****** teeth for it.

EXCERPT:

Bane Then. A liar. A con. A godless thief. My reputation was a big wave that I rode, one that swallowed everyone around me, drowning every attempt to fuck with what’s mine. I’d been known as a stoner, but power was my real drug of choice. Money meant nothing. It was tangible, and therefore easy to lose. See, to me, people were a game. One I’d always known how to win. Move the rooks around. Change the queen when necessary. Guard the king at all fucking times. I was never distracted, never deterred, and never jealous. So, imagine my surprise when I found myself being all three at once. It was a siren with coal black hair who robbed me of riding the biggest wave I’d seen that summer. Of my precious attention. Of my goddamn breath. She glided from the ocean to the beach like nightfall. I crouched down, straddling my surfboard, gawking. Edie and Beck stopped beside me, floating on their boards in my periphery. “This one’s taken by Emery Wallace,” Edie had warned. Thief. “This one’s the hottest masterpiece in town.” Beck had chuckled. Con. “More importantly, she only dates rich bastards.” Liar. I had all the ingredients to pull her in. Her body was a patch of fresh snow. White, fair, like the sun shone through her, never quite soaking in. Her skin defied nature, her ass defied my sanity, but it was the words on her back that made my logic rebel. It wasn’t her curves or the way she swayed her hips like a dangling, poisonous apple that warranted my reaction to her. It was that tattoo I had noticed when she swam close to me earlier, the words trickling down the nape of her neck and back in a straight arrow. My Whole Life Has Been Pledged to This Meeting with You Pushkin. I only knew one person who went gaga over the Russian poet, and, like the famous Alexander, he was currently six feet under. My friends began to paddle back to shore. I couldn’t move. It felt like my balls were ten tons heavy. I didn’t believe in love at first sight. Lust, maybe, but even that wasn’t the word I was looking for. No. This girl fucking intrigued me. “What’s her name?” I snatched Beck’s ankle, yanking him back to me. Edie stopped pedaling and looked back, her gaze ping-ponging between us. “Doesn’t matter, bro.” “What’s. Her. Name?” I repeated through a locked jaw. “Dude, she’s, like, way young.” “I will not repeat myself a third time.” Beck’s throat bobbed with a swallow. He knew damn well that I didn’t mess around. If she was legal—it was on. “Jesse Carter.” Jesse Carter was going to be mine before she even knew me. Before I even knew her. Before her life turned upside down and her fate rewrote itself with her blood. So here was the truth that even my lying ass wouldn’t admit later on in our story—I wanted her before. Before she became business. Before the truth caged her in. Before the secrets gushed out. I never did get to surf that day. My surfboard broke. Should have known it was an omen. My heart was going to be next in line. And for a small chick, she did one hell of a fucking job obliterating it.

REVIEW:

L.J. Shen NEVER disappoints. When reading Scandalous, I was intrigued with Bane. We got glimpses of him, and I wanted to know what made the man tick. He is a liar, a thief and a whore. Literally. If you have something he wants, he will do everything in his power to get it. Even if it means sleeping his way to the top. Money equals power. Money that Bane will do anything to get.

Bane makes a business deal with an oil tycoon. He needs his money to invest in a project. But what he didn't know is that there would be strings attached. He would be given the money, but the investor wanted something in return. He wanted Bane to help his step-daughter. He wanted Bane to become her friend. To help pull her from the dark place that she's been living for the past few years. There was only ONE RULE, don't get romantically involved with her. DO NOT TOUCH HER.

Bane thought, hey, no big deal. I can do this. But what he didn't take into consideration was that Jesse Carter could steal his heart.

Jesse has demons of her past that she is trying to overcome. When Bane befriends her, she resisted. She didn't let her guard down. But Bane persisted, and the more he pushed, the more the walls around her began to fall.

Will Bane risk everything he's worked for when he begins to crave Jesse?  Will Jesse allow Bane to climbs the walls that surround her heart?  Will Jesse ever let her guard down?

When the foundation that they slowly built between the two of them begins to crumble when Bane's secrets are revealed, will Jesse trust Bane?  Will she give him the opportunity to explain?  Was Bane hustling her step-day, or was her step-day really hustling Bane?

Jesse has pushed the demons of her past far down within her soul. But what happens when she is forced to face her past?  Will she be able to handle it?

Worth the Risk by K. Bromberg

From New York Times bestselling author K. Bromberg comes a new, sexy standalone about taking chances and finding love when it’s least expected. Or wanted.

This whole contest was supposed to be easy. I knowI know. Famous last words.
It’s a long story, but I messed up at work. Big time. To earn back the trust of my boss, I promised to save one of our magazines. Yep. That Hot Dadcontest you’ve seen advertised all over the place was my idea. And if I’m successful, if I’m able to increase our online readership, then I get a shot at my dream job.
But the one thing I never expected to happen, happened: Contestant number ten, Grayson Malone. Hello, Mr. Difficult. And did I mention sexy as hell?
Unfortunately he knows me. The old me, anyway. And while we might be older now, I remind him of before. Of the woman who broke his heart, who hardened him, and who left him alone to raise the cutest little boy I’ve ever seen.
But I don’t want a relationship. And I definitely don’t fall for single dads with baggage. Even ones with chiseled abs and killer smiles.
But he got to me. They got to me.He and his son and their messy, crazy life.  But I got to him too. I see the stolen glances. I feel the walls he built start to crumble. I recognize that there’s an unexpected beauty to the chaos in his life.
And now that the contest is about to end, we’re left to decide whether the last six months were just fun or if what we have is worth risking it all?
