Review Tour - Close to You by Kristen Proby

About CLOSE TO YOU:

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Kristen Proby comes the second novel in her sizzling Fusion series.

Camilla, “Cami,” LaRue was five-years-old when she first fell in love with Landon Palazzo. Everyone told her the puppy love would fade—they clearly never met Landon. When he left after graduation without a backward glance, she was heartbroken. But Cami grew up, moved on, and became part-owner of wildly popular restaurant Seduction. She has everything she could want...or so she thinks.

After spending the last twelve years as a Navy fighter pilot, Landon returns to Portland to take over the family construction business. When he catches a glimpse of little Cami LaRue, he realizes she’s not so little any more. He always had a soft spot for his little sister’s best friend, but nothing is soft now when he’s around the gorgeous restauranteur.

Landon isn’t going to pass up the chance to make the girl-next-door his. She’s never been one for romance, but he’s just the one to change her mind. Will seduction be just the name of her restaurant or will Cami let him get close enough to fulfill all her fantasies?

REVIEW by Michelle:

All I can say is WOW! Kristen had me on a emotional roller coaster with this one! Landon may be a close second to Will Montgomery for me. I fell in love immediately. Cali was amazing too. Definitely could see me being friends with her and this group. They kept me wanting more. I always love the friendship turned to relationship and Kristen wrote this beautifully. There was the humor, seriousness, loss and hope. Without giving anything away, I have to say Kristen touched on a subject that affects many women (myself included although not to the extent in the book). I know personally this is not a subject that many feel comfortable talking about and I think Kristen nailed the emotions and I hope this helps women who have gone through the same thing. Thank you Kristen! With that being said. I highly recommend this book and series. This is easily becoming one of my favorites!

And Don’t Miss the First Novel in the Fusion Series, LISTEN TO ME!

Excerpt:

~Landon~
“Hey Jake,” I say, shaking the other man’s hand firmly.
“Good to see you, man,” he replies. “Are you gonna stick around to hear my set later?”
Jake Keller, or Jake Knox as the rest of the world knows him, is an international rock star who stepped out of the limelight to focus on producing and writing, and as of about six months ago, started focusing on our Addie.
“I don’t know, I have to go house- hunting today.” I shake my head mournfully.
“I like looking at houses,” Addie says.
“I don’t,” I reply simply. “It’s boring.”
“What’s boring?” Cami asks as she walks out of her office and joins us. My eyes immediately zero in on her feet— not in sneakers this time— and the mile- high gray boots she’s wearing. My eyes travel up her body, taking in her stylish black- and- gray outfit, and sexy- as- hell body, and when I reach her eyes, her head is tilted, and she’s gazing at me with a mixture of humor and reservation.
This is what interests me.
“Landon hates looking at houses.”
“I’ve mostly been looking at apartments,” I reply, still holding Cami’s gaze with my own. “But I have appointments to see three houses this afternoon.”
“Good luck with that,” Cami says, and turns to leave, but I catch her wrist before she can walk away.
“Come with me.”
“Excuse me?” She glances down at my hand and I pull it away, immediately missing the contact.
“Come look with me.”
“I’m at work.”
“I told her to leave two hours ago,” Addie says helpfully.
“I’ve been busy,” she replies with a frown. “The damn tills from yesterday were off.”
“By a lot?” Addie asks.
“No, it was probably a mistake.” Cami sighs and shakes her head. “I guess I could use a break.”
“Perfect,” I reply with a grin. “Looking alone is torture, Cam. If I have to look at another bathroom, I’m going to . . . Well, I don’t know what I’ll do, but it won’t be pretty.”
She blinks at me, then finally shakes her head, mumbles something under her breath that I can’t quite hear, then chuckles. “Well, we can’t have you not being pretty.”
“Great. Let’s go.” I gesture for her to lead me out the door, but she rolls her eyes.
“I need my jacket and handbag. I’ll meet you outside.”
“You might want to change your shoes too. We’ll be walking a lot.”
Both Cami and Addie laugh. “These are my walking shoes,” she replies as she walks back into the office, then returns less than thirty seconds later with her bag, jacket, and shiny lips.
Great. Now I can’t stop staring at her lips. I’m pretty sure women do that on purpose.

IT ENDS WITH US by COLLEEN HOOVER

REVIEW by CA Borgford:

There are no adequate words to describe It Ends with Us. I felt happy, sad, intrigued, heartbroken and helpless reading it. Many tears were shed. Colleen Hoover packs a punch ~ resulting in my feeling a multitude of things at once. I was overwhelmed at times ~ yet her words always carried me through.

This book is the raw, naked truth about life. It pushed me to really think about the what if’s. There are no easy answers until it’s right in front of you. Lily, Ryle and Atlas are exceptional characters. They each broke my heart and then healed it.

A must read. Hoover’s best work to date. Absolutely exquisite and in a class of its own.

REVIEW by Jeanine:

I am blown away after reading this story. I want to give this book to every woman I know and make them read it. It's powerful, raw, emotional, heart breaking and heart warming all at the same time. I was on an emotional roller coaster and I couldn't get enough. I was sad when it ended, I wanted more! Lily is one of the strongest women I've ever had the chance to read about. After having issues during her childhood with the way her father treated her mother, Lily's life could have gone way differently.

Instead she moved away when she could, worked hard for what she wanted and never really looked back.... Then she meets Ryle Kincaid. Things are going well for them, for the most part. Until she comes face to face with Atlas Corrigan. Her first love. Her first everything. Lily and Atlas have a powerful history. One that had me crying my eyes out and smiling all at the same time. Lily is faced with very difficult decisions. I was so proud of her at the end of this book. Guys this story will have you crying your eyes out. Keep tissues around! I could not get enough! I don't know how she does it.

Colleen Hoover is by far my favorite author and I'm always so so impressed on what she writes and how she writes. I fall in love always in the first chapter. This story is addicting. Be prepared for sleepless nights once you start reading. It's an easy 5 stars from me and I would give it more than that if I could!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

REVIEW by Heather:

There are no words for me to be able to describe the emotions I felt while reading as well as after reading It Ends With Us. Colleen Hoover was able to make me relate to the character Lily. At times some of the things that she had internal thought about with her relationship with Ryle, I felt like that as some point in my life. I know that some people have voiced their opinions about this book in a negative light. I am not one of those. However, I respect everyones opinion.

I will scream from the rafters, that this is a must read book. I have to say that this book a lot of people can relate to. When faced with a decision, you are the one that can change the situation. You are the one that can make the choice.

It Ends With Us is a book that will stay with me forever. I had to stop reading the book on the train because I had tears running down my face.  At one point, I had tears running down my face while walking to work.  Colleen, you are amazing. I  admire you for putting yourself out there by writing on such a personal subject.

This book deserves way more than 5 stars!!!

One True Loves by Taylor Jenkins Reid

Named a Best Book of Summer by Cosmopolitan * InStyle * Redbook * Us Weekly * PopSugar * Buzzfeed * Bustle * Brit+Co * Parade

“No one does life and love better.” –InStyle
“Earth-shaking…you will flip for this epic love story.” –Cosmopolitan
“Reid's heartwrenching tale asks if it's possible to have multiple soul mates.” —Us Weekly

From the author of Maybe in Another Life—named a People Magazine pick—comes a breathtaking new love story about a woman unexpectedly forced to choose between the husband she has long thought dead and the fiancé who has finally brought her back to life.

In her twenties, Emma Blair marries her high school sweetheart, Jesse. They build a life for themselves, far away from the expectations of their parents and the people of their hometown in Massachusetts. They travel the world together, living life to the fullest and seizing every opportunity for adventure.

On their first wedding anniversary, Jesse is on a helicopter over the Pacific when it goes missing. Just like that, Jesse is gone forever.

Emma quits her job and moves home in an effort to put her life back together. Years later, now in her thirties, Emma runs into an old friend, Sam, and finds herself falling in love again. When Emma and Sam get engaged, it feels like Emma’s second chance at happiness.

That is, until Jesse is found. He’s alive, and he’s been trying all these years to come home to her. With a husband and a fiancé, Emma has to now figure out who she is and what she wants, while trying to protect the ones she loves.

Who is her one true love? What does it mean to love truly?

Emma knows she has to listen to her heart. She’s just not sure what it’s saying.

Review by Christine:

Wow, wow, wow. I had no idea what to expect reading One True Loves. A good friend recommended it to me. This was first experience reading Ms. Reid and certainly not my last.

One True Loves is slow and purposeful. Building up momentum ~ expectations, attachments and deep emotions ~ until I was so wrapped up in Emma’s life I didn’t know if I was coming or going.

This story is all encompassing. Reading it shifts your perspective on your own life ~ if only temporarily. I experienced a vast array of emotions ending with complete satisfaction. I suggest going in blind. Highly recommend ~ 6 stars
